@mk @codeforchaos I have a pet peeve against the "mothers don't know how to compute" meme.
I happen to have a lot of programming friends who are also moms these days. I get frustrated on their behalf every time I hear this come up.
This lofi meme(?) has gotten weird https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pm6qy_9E0rY
It's kinda nuts that they're also doing a promotion for ppl who aren't choosing to get vaccinated. Like, why? https://krispykreme.com/promos/vaccineoffer
I'm just hearing about #deliveroo. Is it as big as grubhub or uber eats in the US in the countries where they operate?

The whole remaining problem here is deciding whether a contract has been violated. This doesn't necessarily require a state, but at this point at least some third party that is already trusted. (Except contracts the terms of which can be evaluated automatically, but this is a category so constrained that it borders on uselessness.)
Blockchains only provide enough synthetic trust to work as currencies, and barely any more. Other applications still require research.
I was thinking about #smartcontracts and #NFTs. Like, I guess you could use them to transfer titles/deeds with less overhead, which, yeah, probably: less ink and stamping once you have some template contracts. However, I've read suggestions that these things enable cross-borders trust... that's B.S. though. Two parties could agree on terms in a smart contract and with whatever terms, but one or the other party could still renege and it would still devolve onto some state to enforce the provisions, which is the state of affairs now.
This is so cool. With just a little bit of modification using a single 3d printed part glued to the side of the head of a 3d printer this japanese team managed to create a fully autonomous robot that can basically built its own tools, pick them up, and then use them to manipulate its environment.

Hey everyone, a supernova just went off in Cassiopeia!!!! Right now it is in the early stage so only visible by telescope but after a few days it is likely to be visible to the naked eye. Supernovas are fairly rare so might want to make some time to see this one!
I am not against the whole "buy me a cup of coffee" ask by content creators but I do think it is really sad.
We have we devalued ourselves for corporate profits so much that it is unreasonable to ask for anything in exchange for hours of virtually unpaid labor other than a cup of coffee to drink while we do hours of virtually unpaid labor.
Like can we normalize "if you like my stuff, help me pay a little bit of my rent!" or "if you like my channel buy me some damn food so I can eat".
Good to know I have been consistently going against recommendations for mask wear at work. Frequently doff and don the mask during the day to drink water, have a snack. Never wash my hands after taking the mask off. Super-fail.

This is a long shot, but I want to put the power of social media and federation to the test.
My son wants to become a commercial airline pilot when heโs grown up. It would be awesome if we could find a commercial pilot in the fediverse that we can follow and ask questions of.
If everyone who reads this could boost it, it would be much appreciated and it would mean the world to my son if he could get in touch with a real-life commercial pilot! โ๏ธ
