Very happy to find this group of brilliant scientists and clinicians - who have been so amazing at both sharing their expertise and listening to diverse views and concerns throughout the pandemic - here:

Republicans were measuring the drapes. MTG was chortling about cutting off Ukraine. Pundits were tripping over each other to say the same things about “momentum.” The press was reporting the future. And Democrats were engaged in precriminations.
And then people started voting. https://twitter.com/benjaminwittes/status/1467612037903753221

I remain genuinely and pleasantly shocked that in the course of 10 days or so, we all just went, “no way, eff this, we’re going to @Mastodon”, and now we’re just here and people are so nice and writing alt-text in their images and sharing great stuff and using content warnings and everything. Obviously none of this would have been possible without years of work by #Fediverse / #ActivityHub devs that came before. Even so, this is really something, no? 😃

Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey is the first openly gay person and first woman elected as Massachusetts governor. Healey's win over Geoff Diehl, her Trump-backed opponent, flips the office from GOP control.

Democrat Wes Moore has won the race for governor in Maryland.

I am SO proud of Maryland’s new Gov-Elect @iamwesmoore. A superstar who is brilliant and dedicated. He is the first Black Governor in the history of the state and only the third Black Governor elected to office in the U.S. since Reconstruction. Wonderful! If you don’t know him learn about him!

1. Elections aren't decided by polls
They are decided by counting votes
So we should pay more attention to Pennsylvania — which could determine control of the Senate — where Republicans are trying to exclude thousands of ballots from eligible voters
Morning folks, time for my first Mastodon thread (!)
Ahead of the #midterms tomorrow, I want to talk about the tragic politicisation of science in the US.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the Republicans became the anti-science party, but the process probably began in the 1980s, when the Christian right first emerged as a major force in conservative American politics.
Since then, the journey has been smooth and swift, and there is now a stunning partisan divide on confidence in science 😥
At this point I’m just perusing #blackmastodon and #blacktwitter and adding whomever I find on here. It’s like giving the nod when you see a mutual in a public space 😁✊🏾
Hello! Well, I’m getting lots of calls from media outlets around the world re #TwitterMigration. Elon’s very upset with me because he thinks I stole his identity on Twitter but my handle always said @kathygriffin. I changed my nickname to Elon musk, and I changed my profile picture to his profile picture. I wasn’t the first or last to do it, but account was the one he saw.
Lots of Musk cult bros are lashing out! Snowflakes! 😂
9. I am not saying all speech allowed by the First Amendment should be allowed on Twitter. THAT IS WHAT ELON MUSK SAID.
I'm saying ELON MUSK IS NOT DOING WHAT HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO DO.
Hopefully, that clears up any confusion.
@joshtpm Twitter came up and grew at a time when a lot of people who were previously tech-averse discovered the benefits of being active in an online community. I'm hopeful that the migration here is a sign that people are both more tech-savvy and less willing to accept a toxic community. What Musk doesn't, in his bones, understand is that the community on a platform like these, is the boss, not the consumer. And his hubristic takeover made that point clear to many people.
Broke philanthropist. Escaped them mean Twitter streets.
