Nothing will change and I just fear we as humans - and I include myself in this - are just too selfish to make the kind of changes to save the planet. Selfish”

Okay this might be a long post
One thing that I realised is making #twittermigration harder for people to switch is because the whole concept can feel daunting & overwhelming for non-tech savvy people.
With Twitter to them it was straight forward and easy to find topics they enjoy but with mastodon its a bit different.
So if you’re new to mastodon or you want to introduce someone to mastodon here are some tips, useful sites & tools:
Twitodon - Find your Twitter friends on Mastodon
FediFinder- Similar to Twitodon
Fedi Tips - an informal, unofficial guide for non-technical people who want to use Mastodon and the wider Fediverse
Fedi Directory - A human-curated small selection of accounts to spice up your timeline.
Trunk -Trunk allows you to mass-follow a bunch of people in order to get started with Mastodon or any other platform on the Fediverse
Fediverse.info -growing list of people and topics can help you discover mutual interests with people around the world
Mobile Apps:
Metatext for iOS
Tusky for Android
Lastly if you are interested in setting up your own instance you can learn via https://learnfoss.org/ its completely free and its made by the wonderful @stux
I apologize for the long post lol, just hope this helps anyones transition over
XKCD nails it again ... *so* good:
Hmmm something odd is going on with my following thingy (science lingo;-))
In either direction it just blinks and goes back to whatever it was. Maybe there is a maximum times you can do it? I got confused (sleepy/meds) with the icon and unfollowed a few people I wanted to follow but actually already did, and now it won’t change it back (even after 24 hours) ...🧐

2/2 Yet while I’m sculpting (working with wire or carving in plaster or wood etc) I can listen to an audiobook or a podcast for hours on end and my hands will just keep going. Why is that? What’s the difference between painting/sculpting? I’m genuinely interested. (Next questsion will be about where art and science overlaps 😁) #artist #artpractice #brain #science #studio #studiohabits #multitasking #curious #dialogue
While reading a thread on twitter about people knitting or doing crochet during lectures and such (thanks Jo Bell) I remembered something I noticed a while ago. Hoping people will chime in!
➡️When I paint I can not listen to or concentrate on an audio book or podcast, while painting I need either quiet or very familiar music so that my brain doesn’t have to “think” too much...1/2
One of my sculptures in a joint exhibition. “The Weight in Patience”. My obsession for a while has been #lichen and drystone walls. This motif keeps coming back in my work; the treasures you find when you stop to look; crystals, plants, lichen, wildlife. And it is all balanced into calmness. There is a common approach in science and art- I think so anyway

@ErikaDesign Even if you just love science or want to be surrounded by science people you would be welcome here. No topic restrictions
Ah oops? Explains why not many ppl with same interests to me here. I wonder how I got here then? I only followed a link from an journalist article explaining this new world, didn’t even know there were ‘instances’ when I signed up. Well I suppose my amateur biologist and inherent drive to learn is a bit of link ☺️ #STEM
@freemo question, because you don’t seem to mind 🙈
What does it mean/is happening when an image doesn’t load but shows an exclamation mark in the middle? It doesn’t show the “hidden” option. Is that an image removed after posting or something? (Trying to trawl for other sculptors and seen it a few times now)
