@johncarlosbaez I guess it would be pretty hard to slow it down enough at Jupiter to orbit Europa too.

I’m an adherent of the Yayashurshur school of management management. For example:
Boss: “I’m going to need you to go ahead and [unintelligible jumble of management jargon].}
Me: “Yeah, I’ll get right on that. Yeah, sure.”

If I were to pull off a bank heist, I'd wear this. Because why can't you be criminal and whimsical?

@LikeItOrLumpIt But as you’re leaving the bank you have to shout “Beware the Kraken!”.

Another point: Had Trump and his MAGAt thugs not pushed disinformation so hard and continue to, then none of this would happen and people who need saving would be saved. Now lives are in further danger because people believe Trump's lies.

@wdlindsy A few days ago Trump said something about Ukraine being “dead”. Now where would he get language like that I wonder 🤔.

@shoq I don't know how you put the antigenie back in the bottle, but for me the first step is preventing things like Fox "News" from calling themselves news. There needs to be some sort of truthfullness standard an organization must meet before they can advertise themselves as a "news" channel, or paper as the case may be.

How do we find consensus for social change, with so many uneducated, uninformed, and uninterested people, and so many oligarchs and fascists spending billions to keep them that way?
I don’t know the answer, but from what I see of the minimal discussion of any of it, no one else does either. Color me worried for the future. Very worried.

August: PostMedia buys Halifax Chronicle Herald.

Today : They fired Michael de Adder #media

@muiren Wow. That is horrible. I had no idea there were people who thought that way. Hmm, not “thought”, that’s not the right word.

the year is 2024. and a politician has gotten away with chopping down hundreds of old trees at the shore of lake ontario. to make it appealing for a private spa for rich people. how do you even trust him and his cabinet on greenbelt?
