Just rereading this great post by @mmasnick about that one time, at Design Day, when a prominent design patent attorney trotted out a list of terrorist attacks that may or may not have been linked to "counterfeiting," then said, with a totally straight face:

In software as a service (SaaS) marketing speak, CONVERSION is when a free user transitions to a paid customer. Getting your credit card number is their holy grail.

EXTORTION is the practice of obtaining something through force or threats.

When your online security is threatened unless you pay up, they are extorting your conversion.

There are reports that all Jehovah's Witness congregation in Pennsylvania are being subpoenaed for records relating to CSA records going back to 1987. JWs keep secret internal records, like many other seclusive fundamentalist churches. They hide behind 'clergy-penitent privilege' to protect abusers.

This is a huge step forward. Let's do this to all the fundamentalist cults. Children are stuck in these authoritative environments, they don't know who to turn to, they are taught not to trust people like teachers or guidance counselors, so abuse is kept under wraps within the controlling environment. It's even worse for kids who are home schooled or in private religious schools.

There is no sin in the story of "The Fall" in Genesis 3.

Literally, the word "sin" doesn't appear in the Bible until the story of Cain and Abel, in the next chapter.

So there's certainly no "Original Sin" in the story. All of that was made up centuries later and read back into it.
