I like a good debate that introduces me to other perspectives. I don't waste much time with people who devolve to name-calling or insults, aside to call them out on it.
I think society performs at its best when we take care of others, especially the weakest among us. That means a strong social safety net, with "free" healthcare, education, and public transit. It's a dream, I know.
30+ years of explaining stuff to teenagers has left me with some habits... I'm not a mansplainer, but I *do* like to find ways to 'splain stuff to receptive ears 😊
I like dogs, cats, and astronomy pictures with a bias towards the shorter wavelengths (kinda leaves out all those lovely Hα pics 😄).
The first thing I look at when shopping for cars is headroom/legroom. Saves a lot of time.

How is it even possible that Alex Jones still has a platform? Shouldn’t he be bankrupt by now & out of our lives? And today, HE’S the one who threw Ye/Kanye a pass yet Kayne took the opportunity to go even lower. I literally am breathless & speechless about how we are here right now - a country where our ancestors believed was a refuge. Yes. We updated our passports when TFG began in 2016.

It was two years ago today that the platform of the 305m Arecibo Telescope collapsed. The Observatory continues to produce science from its other instruments, including airglow cameras, lidars and a 12m radio telescope.

I've been stewing about this for a couple of hours and I just need to vent (will probably delete later):
Fuck you, FCC. And fuck Starlink too. And OneWeb, and AST, and every other horrible techbro company that wants to fucking destroy something beautiful for profit.

@KikiElara @chatphysics I always had a roll of pennies in my desk drawer. It was a mix of old and new, so some were magnetic and some were not. I used them for chem (isotopes), physics (ferromagnetism example, radioactive decay), biology (tokens to signify pesticide dose), and more.
