Because I keep reading that Escher's work entered the public domain today. From 2003:

How beautiful is this? #Etna continues emitting lava, which has been growing into a vast lava field with multiple active lobes reaching a length of more than 1.5 km and a volume estimated at about 1.5-2 million cubic meters. These two photos were taken at nightfall on 2 January 2023 from the northern crest of the Valle del Bove, on the northeast flank of the volcano.

Hot on the heels of #mosstodon there is now #ferndiverse 🌿

The humidity and shade inside this #abandoned garage in #belgium created a special microclimate, perfect for ferns. A huge cluster cling to the wall and the roof is covered with stunning ferns of all sizes. There are long cracks in the ceiling, the ferns are even growing from this.

Over the last, 15 minutes it has turned from green to white here in Port Orchard, Washington.

Wild that these rocks were originally laid down as sediments at the bottom of a huge ocean which separated the landmasses now known as Scotland & England.. but then continental collision took place, the Iapetus closed & over 400 million years later we’re stuck with the tories 🙃
