Who here would fid a WriteFreely or PixelFed instance useful?

We are trying to decide which other federated servers to host on and would love to hear from people on their opinions.

update

QOTO now offers a Funkwhale service for free to all QOTO members. It can be found here: audio.qoto.org

Funkwhale is a federated technology using ActivityPub. This means you can follow people's audio library just like you would follow someone on QOTO. Get an account, upload some audio, and share it with anyone in the fediverse.

Funkwhale is part of a series of federated services QOTO has been bringing up lately for its user base with the intention of facilitating collaboration and announcements around STEM based projects. Here are a few of the other services we have:

PeerTube instance for sharing videos with the fediverse: video.qoto.org

NextCloud instance for general file storage like google drive but federated: cloud.qoto.org

GitLab instance for hosting git based source code repositories as well as hosting static websites including the option to bring your own custom domain: git.qoto.org

Discourse instance a mailing list, forum, and Q&A server: discourse.qoto.org

And of course our Mastodon server where this toot is posted: qoto.org

Update. We now have a PeerTube instance up free to all QOTO users to use. The new server can be found here: video.qoto.org

This server is in addition to several other servers we brought up in recent weeks, all are open to users of QOTO:

NextCloud: cloud.qoto.org

Gitlab (allows to host private domains as well as several free CI runners): git.qoto.org

Discourse: discourse.qoto.org

And of course there is QOTO mastodon at qoto.org

Later next week we will probably get FunkWhale server up and PixelFed. We will continue to be a home for Federated and Distributed social technologies that enable STEM projects to collaborate and publish their results.

update:

We recently added a new service to the QOTO family of services. We now host a Discourse server are discourse.qoto.org

It is currently empty but will act as a space for discussion around open-source STEM projects or general STEM discussion. It will also act as a mailing list for any project managers who wish to use the service for their projects.

IT compliments our other services well including a GitLab instance open to the general public for open-source STEM projects as well as for our users to host private or personal websites.

We also have a NextCloud server open to the public for open-source STEM projects and individuals to utilize as well.

In the next few weeks we will continue to bring up new services including PeerTube, Pixelfed, FunkWhale, and many more on their way.

I’m thinking of 5 numbers such that their mean is equal to their median. If 4 of the numbers are 14, 8, 16, and 14, what is the 5th number?

Please CW answers and hints in your responses.

Come on now, give me your best , you'll help me get idea for some public screening we are planning to do

I've just redesigned my experimental garden's shape. I couldn't stand all those keyholes and weird paths anymore.

Wrote a small article about it, which is like a long toot with more pictures, in case anyone is curious about it: arteteco.com/20shapes/

Ok so i made a mistake on this problem. Turns out this was accidentally a trick question. The answer is that any amount of fuel will get you to any height. The reason being that as the fuel is expended the mass of the ship approaches 0, so acceleration approaches infinity. So by the time the rocket is out of fuel it would be moving at the speed of light no matter how much fuel it started with.

As suck I will post a new version of this question and ill make sure i solve it BEFORE I post it.

== Math Problem of the Day ==

If you have a rocket traveling vertically with only the mass of its fuel to carry, with earth sea level gravity, then, how much fuel must you carry to reach a height of 1 kilometer if maintaining a newton of thrust uses up 1 gram of fuel per minute.

Bonus: show the equation with height and fuel per time are both unknowns (variables).
