@Murgledom Lovely. Is this the sculpture you can see from the M57 (maybe M62?) Motorway?

Should you buy an #eBike to replace your regular #bike? - Android Authority
Can an #electric bike replace my need for a regular bike? Is riding an e-bike #safe, #practical, and, most of all, #fun? There was only one way to find out, so I abandoned my regular #bikes and went all-in on an e-bike for two weeks.

I don't yet know what the etiquette is here about announcing stuff you're doing. So I'll take a chance. If you like jazz you might like the JR Sextet. we're doing a bunch of shows in London in the New Year. All of them are listed here.

#helloworld! I like it when the #internet is for everyone and am trying out the #fediverse. Please bear with me; I was told I should use lots of #hashtags and am trying out the features.
I'm using #fedilab on Android. I already have a #noobquestion: can I add hashtags in Fedilab to my home feed? Right now I have some hashtags in the top bar but I have to view them all separately. #thx!
How many characters are too many? Can I just go on forever? I heard there was a limit but I still haven't reached it. Maybe it's 600 characters? 1000? I guess at some point the numbers will just go red and I will know what's up. Ok it wasn't 600. I'll just search online then because this is getting way out of hand. ...GREAT SCOTT I'm glad I did: it's 65,535 characters on my instance. #qoto 😂
@BrentToderian I like this idea, without having any evidence that it is true. Vibrant creative cities are brilliant places to just be.
I’ve worked in and for hundreds of cities all over the world. The cities that are doing amazing and innovative things aren’t cities with ideal weather, or topography, or size, or demographics, or wealth, or regulatory systems/powers, or even politics.
They’re the cities that have stopped making excuses.
I'll be honest here, as a humble instance admin receiving all kinds of DMs and emails...
The abuse, excessive reports... folks our instance grew from 60 users to 22000 in the span of two weeks. I didn't expect to suddenly commit 6-8 hours of my day to this. Knowing I have other commitments like a day job and other things.
I'm burning the candle on both ends here. Look at this toot timestamp. Please save space for some patience.

What’s the thinking on Fanny Mendelssohn v Fanny Hensel? I’m seeing more posts referring to her as Hensel now - is that thought to be more authentically how she thought of herself?
Planning a couple of talks about her in the new year and want to get it right!
Funny how @Gargron was so concerned about popular opinion and "optics" when he delisted us... Now the thread on reddit discussing this is already more popular than any other thread this month and will likely hit an all time high.
Shame about the bad optics...

Scientists at Cornell University suggest that onshore algae farms grown in regions that get a lot of sun (such as deserts) could produce all the protein needed to feed a population of 10 billion. Would you eat plant-based meats made with algae? As long as it's tasty, I'd happily give it a try!

Exciting that the ability to take advantage of the UK's strong tides to generate reliable green energy is becoming ever closer!
