Funny thing, I don't have the exact impression as you. Indeed I also think that it is good to be in an instance akin to your interests, since you are more exposed in the local timeline, but addressing and being addressed from other instances has been second nature, requiring no extra effort from me.

I scan the global timeline from time to time, so maybe that is the key.

Yes, I have read impressive things, as transmitting audio over network, Bluetooth or even from WSL. I would wish to have some time to learn it in full!

I finally bit the bullet and learned how to do video editing with #blender.

I enjoyed a lot #mikeycal videos about it, even covering the update to version 2.8.

I prefer to rely on tools that are "everything but the kitchen sink", and are available on any platform, like #emacs.

Those groups of people are usually better served with smartphones or tablets. It is a pity that the tendency is to know less over the time, but in this special case, it pays off.
