@jmacc I find that happens when I don’t have a good mental sketch of the problem. It’s my cue to stop hacking and plan some more. Going bottom up also helps as you’ve seen.

🎵 Take me down to migraine city where the stress is seen and patterns are pretty... :ablobblewobble:

@freemo I’m sure that political calculus is part of the strategy. Unless Bidens team is incompetent. Personal opinion, of that crew Haley seems like the worst case for the democrats.

@reginagrogan A good number. Follow and , you will see their posts. As you are looking for a new server, if you want one with a good population of rust devs, hachyderm.io seems fairly popular.

Is i3 still the state of the art in tiling window managers?

@shafik Yeah, 0 is cursed in c++ because it is also the null pointer literal aka NULL. Since string has a const char* overload, this is ambiguous because the compiler can interpret 0 as std::string(NULL).

Flying pigs are supposed to be the epitome of the impossible, and yet the grocery store is careful to specify that this is ground pork.

@bughuntercat well hopefully it yields to simplifying abstractions like many complex topics that we are too simple to understand in every detail.

@AmenZwa I would not describe anyone as “whip it smart” if they can’t see through self-absorbed liars like Santos and Trump. Instead I’d say they must be some special breed of moron.

The #Republican brand is a potent blend of irrationality, immorality, and imbecility. It has no connection to conservatism, ethics, or governance.

@AmenZwa "Not surprisingly, those who play with such systems inevitably develop Python, JavaScript, webdev, and other bad habits." Lol, so true

@cpbotha I use math-preview for previewing latex equations in asciidoc, it could be adopted for org mode, it's flexible. It does require an external js program, but setting that up is documented and straightforward (I know nothing about js, so it must be).

@smurthys what makes you thing c++ wasn’t organically grown? Clearly there is a lot of shit in there!

@kkolakowski curious how the release and debug rust builds take essentially the same time. This doesn’t seem typical.

@ringtailringo @dekkzz76 fair points. I guess I enjoy the configuration because I like programming and the process of incrementally improving my work flow. I found vim was hard to improve beyond a certain point when I switched almost a decade ago. Speed isn’t the best (esp on windows which I unfortunately need to use) but not a problem and more than adequate on fast hardware and Linux.

@dekkzz76 @ringtailringo I actually mainly just edit code with emacs. I guess I’m weird.

I'm now convinced that the root of the OpenAI fiasco is that they successfully invent Skynet in the future but failed to program it to love humanity.

So one of the board members is a time traveler sent back by the resistance to prevent the creation of Skynet. But since they're a pacifist instead of using guns, they're using boardroom shenanigans. 😆

@wirthy wow still not fixed! I posted the original issue. It’s a simple fix I’d have thought it would be a no brainer.

My #emacs find of the day is that imenu works well in most magit buffers.

eg. select a commit, M-x imenu, rejoice

@peterdrake Glad you asked. The safest method is to avoid touching the ground near a downed powerline. HTH.
