@lack Atheism sort of took off with the various #communist revolutions in Eastern Europe (Latin American #leftists usually were more partial towards liberation theology of the “#Jesus was a #socialist” sort) and there was suppression of superstition in #China but even now, the #Chinese attitudes can’t really be called atheistic. They tend to believe in reincarnation and karma, and view #Buddhism favorably.

Twitter has created, algorithmically or otherwise, a “political enemies” list in a country where ICE has recently been empowered to arrest anyone, anywhere, without a warrant or charges, and put them in a camp.

None of the above is hyperbole either, it’s all literally true.

But hey let’s post about TV and cum or whatever, I guess?

Hey, folks who are customers of a traditional web host (Dreamhost, Namecheap, etc.): If you get a minute, consider asking them nicely if they’re working on adding support for #fediverse apps, #Mastodon probably being the most visible right now. Hopefully with one-click install options like WordPress.

It would be a great way to bring more options to the decentralized web and people who want to use it.

The hardest step is the first. And opening a profile on #Mastodon is definitely one big step towards self-determined communication. Many things here are not yet intuitive to me and I definitely experience fomo everyday. But I think this time it is really our #socialnetwork.

I've been thinking about this on and off, but I think the central flaw of effective altruism is the framing of philanthropy as requiring a view from nowhere. You essentially set up the philanthropist as all seeing all knowing god dispensing justice and mercy.
