I'm late to this announcement but there's a very interesting looking dataviz challenge underway for the World Government Summit, in partnership with Information is Beautiful.

With a total prize fund of $50,000, they supply the datasets and themes, and you come up with "creative, intuitive data visualizations that tell a story or reveal something interesting about the data". Separate tracks for interactive & print.
