roses are red
violets are blue
in surveillance capitalism
poem reads you
and shows you ads
for flower shops
and tracks your clicks
and never stops
it cares not about
if privacy's harmed
the money is green
when people are farmed
twitter is cyan
facebook is blue
your friends are the product
and so are you
One of the problems with trans healthcare is that nobody really knows the current state of things. Psychologists and other healthcare providers don't like to publish much on what they're doing to trans people
UK #trans people: please fill out #survey http://www.thissurvey.com/ICTAWebsite
I've already been interviewed. They're nice people and they have research grants to find out what's going on here. #lgbt #nhs

anyone want "refer a friend" code to google foobar challenge? I have 2. It won't get you hired by google (not that you want to), but it melted my brain and tanked my work for a solid 10 days. #python #programming
"reform the police"
The city of Albuquerque has been a test case for police reform since the cops murdered James Boyd in 2014. The DOJ stepped in, fired many of the officers, and has forced the APD to submit to federal oversight and adopt new accountability policies for the past six years. None of it has worked.
Valente Acosta-Bustillos was killed 3 months ago.
Max Mitnik was killed 2 weeks ago.
Clifton White has spent all month in jail for protesting.
All this time we've remained one of the worst places in the country for police shootings. Nothing has changed. I hope you'll think of ABQ when people urge you to push for reforms and half measures instead of abolition.
I believe flooding the channels with bare facts is still good for those who have not yet emotionally escalated themselves into something.
I have an untested theory that the thing to do with individuals deeply into some ideology/conspiracy theory is to first agree (and get it across emotionally) that if things really are like they say and *spins wheel* the knights templar really are out to *spins wheel* cannibalize babies via *spins wheel* installing 5G hotspots, then yes, that would be bad, their reaction would be appropriate, and we would have to do something about that.
It's counterproductive go facts-first with people who feel attacked further by anything but that one thing they want to hear - which is that you don't agree with it, also want them to die or whatever, or don't care. After establishing you are on their side in terms of values and goals, it might turn into establishing what exactly the facts of the current situation are.
Writing in MIT Tech Review, Samuel Woolley and Jacob Gursky take a deep dive into the data-gathering in the apps from the Trump and Biden campaigns. It's quite a study in contrasts!
The Trump campaign is like Cambridge Analytica Mark II: invasive even by the standards of 2020, with Bluetooth access so your movements can be tracked by sleazy data-brokers, as well as endless-scroll propaganda channels to feed white nationalists' grievance complexes.
