Not sure if folks are aware but India has stopped exporting rice to other countries and other asian countries are following suit. Basmati and Sona Masoori rice is really hard to find now.
For asians, not having rice is something unfathomable. Our cultures depend on it. There is no bigger wake up call than seeing rice being restricted thanks to climate change.

What they're trying to sell to us is the idea that somehow, this technology just appeared on its own, and now we have to adjust to it. A notion of technology as an inevitable force of nature.
A large portion of the world's journalists are helping them pull the scam off by constantly writing about technology as if it just shows up and does things on its own. As if people weren't constantly making choices on how to develop and deploy it.
