@whirli @arteteco No one mentioned or suggested Mozart? 😞

I love his music, and specially the wind instrument pieces. Here's one.

@Full_marx It much more difficult than higher level programming languages, but produces much faster running programs.

Used to be a major advantage when we had less processing power, memory and other resources to waste. Nowadays, unfortunatelly, bloat is more common and feeds the eternal upgrading cycle.

@DissidentKitty@radical.town @requrious@mastodon.social

...and with that little reference, you got my curiosity, and I discovered the wonderful page about Lilith at Wikipedia. Thank you! :thumbsup_hmn_g1:

@Mainebot@octodon.social That's ideal, easier and faster if you don't have to start over again once you realize there's greener pastures somewhere else.

I am a new user, and am also happy with my choice of instance; totally based on the accurate description I found in the "find an instance" web page.

RTFM, as we used to say, it's always good. 😃

It's so beautiful to see masses of people switch to Mastodon / the fediverse. Big hope feels.

@Lawandemotions It feels a lot more civilized indeed. Smaller networks, more control and experienced people in admin and mod positions, responsive to requests or issues. Large places just want you to add content to their boxes so they can attract, monetize that content to their own advantage.

I have been in many different networks over the years, and like you said, enjoy the good times.

Change is always going to happen, we can't control it but hope for the best.

Today marks 1 week since I started using Mastodon. It is honestly so I'll media utopia we are all living. I'm glad I joined when I did..... I don't know if (or when) this place will turn into hell but.... Im glad I'll be able to say I've lived throught the best of its days..🌺 🌹
Also, I'm sure all of us here don't agree with each other a 💯. But I'm glad many chose to simply ignore toots they don't agree with/ find stupid.
I don't know it's its the layout which doesn't tempt you to "call out"

@mngrif @freemo Ooooh, Down Under, gotcha.

But how did you do that, upside down text? It's certainly attention grabbing, even if harder to read, 😃

@Mainebot@octodon.social

Place Harry Truman's sign on Boss's desk?

@Jastej There has been a consensus from the people running the different servers to try to avoid blocking content, with different levels of how strict their allowances are.

Nudity, sex workers posts, escort services, I have seen this scroll by in the Federated feed, a lot of them seemed to come from a certain "instance".

Qoto's policy as stated on the Read Me page is not to block content, which is why you can see that and much worse (hate speech, extreme political and bigotry related posts, etc).

WE as users DO have our own options, some people prefer to be in a place that avoids that content all together by blocking the source. Setting up one's account there is one way to get some sheltering.

Even on a server (or instance) that does not block any instances out there, you DO have a choice. I personally blocked one that I object to, because of their obnoxiousness.

Here's a screenshot showing how to Mute a certain user (just a generic example, anyone that you feel is inappropriate is fine)

You can select "Mute username"to hide their posts in the feeds.

Or, in an extreme case, "Hide everything from domainname" if the instance is annoying you with their content in general (escort posts, nudity, or politically extreme posts, bigotry, etc).

Hope this helps, your feed will now be cleaner and as per your own choices. :thumbsup_hmn_g1:

@freemo @Jastej There are ctually three different "timelines" you can look at, Jastej.

I marked then on the screencapture below.

"Local" is all the recent posts made in your instance (in this case, ours is QOTO.org), in chronological order. Ypou will see anything any user here posts, as long as they mark it Public.

"Home" would be the next place to consider, this shows your own posts, as well as any posts from users you follow, or any posts one of those users gave a boost to/retweeted.

'Federated" is the last one I would look at, as it's HUGE, everything that the network sees scrolls by there, very fast at times. Posts from any instances that your instance currently is federated with (connected, communicating). In qoto's case, that is all of the fediverse (Federated Universe, the network of independant instance/servers who connect and communicate with each other).

As you click on one of those, you get to see the current listing of posts in that area or feed.

The screenshot is from my laptop, running Mastodon in a Waterfox web browser tab; it might be slightly different on a mobile client, like Tusky or others.

okay what about a web app that generates how someone looks based off of the text that they write

e.g.
"blah blah blah m'lady" -> fedora
"puniqtqtqt! : blobcat :" -> anime pfp
"jotaro says trans rights" -> trans pfp
"taxation is theft" -> aviator pfp

just like in that one meme

In the beginning I created the heaven and the earth.

It's pretty much been downhill from there.

@design_RG

Speaking of...

Here is some calligraphy I did a while back of the word "minimum" written so its the same upside down and reversed as it is right side up.

Not perfect I should try it again.

@mngrif

@h_tejas@mastodon.social Agreed fully. We have a big advantage of not being restricted to only the few charaters twitter allows.

And which generate cryptic posts, one liners, that don't make sense, and you scroll on. Here, 500 characters at a minimum, some instances allow larger posts (65 K chars on ours here).

People, please expand your ideas, use a blank line, break a paragraph. I am listening and my eyes thank you for that.

@Karthikdeva I had a good chuckle with your dad's mental health recommendations. 😃 But yes, people used to have no other way than to bear the best they could.

I have seen one of his episodes and enjoyed it. Was actually looking for Jack Ryan Patriot Games, from Amazon studio, and this one showed up. Got to see his new episodes, thank you.
