I use and recommend this service. TVmucho.com gives you access to British TV channels anywhere in the world. 37 channels in the basic package, more if you are willing to pay a bit more.

They also give free user accounts access to one hour a day of programming - for no cost. Just register and try it out. Or use it to catch the excellent BBC News reports once a day.

Basic package costs only 48 Euros on a yearly plan, that's 4 Euros per month, for quality tV delivered without glitches or piracy risks.

...And the "Mute this Conversation" control, which is supposed to put an end to Hell Threads of varying types, actually doesn't...

Argh. Off to something more productive, like raking some leaves, riding the bike a bit, etc.

@freemo
I could spend a huge amount of time in the kind of debate thread you enjoy, but I don't see the point -- as people will end up unchanged and going their own ways. I won't try to convince you, and it's not for lack of possible arguments.

The worse aspect is that having someone who acts the way Trump does is damaging other countries, not only his own.

@freemo

Yes, I do follow media channels that I have affinity for, and don't think they are distorting reality -- like the other side does or tries to do in a daily basis.

I am always surprised by your evaluation of his handling of this situation.

Bidden indeed is not a good candidate, unfortunately.

And I see Trumps handling of the whole crisis in a VERY different way that Freemo, it seems. It's clearly inept. The man is incompetent and dangerous.

There's a good chance the Orange Man might be defeated by the pandemic impact, both in health and economic terms.

We will have to wait and see, things are happening day by day and seem to happen slowly now.

@freemo

@obi A delayed primary vote did not expose anyone to infection, in case they wanted to vote in person -- which is the case in Wisconsin.

No harm done in that case, a sensible thing to do in my opinion.

Sad news but understandable. Thank you for all the hard work and the influence you brought into the US Political arena, Bernie. Progressives all owe you for advancing the agenda.

@obi Going from memory here (I don't live in the USA or follow their news daily) but I think it was a state where the primaries were delayed?

(found this news item - delayed to June 2 : abcnews.go.com/Politics/ohio-m )

Here the supreme court intervened to deny an extension of time to allow people to mail in their ballots (originaly decided as allowing upt to one week delayed postmarking after the election date).

The Atlantic's article mentioned in previous post is this one:

"The Supreme Court’s Wisconsin Decision Is a Terrible Sign for November

The justices are forcing citizens to choose between voting and staying safe from the coronavirus. This fall’s election could be no different."

We can't make this up. The Supreme Court of the USA is so badly bent, it's not even funny.

The Atlantic has a fresh article discussing possible outcomes for a November pandemic election...

But their Wisconsin Republican mass-murder-at-the-ballot election coverage? Chef's kiss. The epitome of "Ha ha, only serious."

"Coronavirus: 'Pets no risk to owners' vets stress
By Victoria Gill Science correspondent, BBC News "

"Veterinary scientists have recommended cat owners keep their pets indoors to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus among animals.

But the British Veterinary Association stressed "owners should not worry" about risk of infection from pets.

"There isn't a single case of a pet dog or cat infecting a human with Covid-19," Dr Angel Almendros, from City University in Hong Kong, told BBC News.

Research has shown cats may be able to catch the virus from other cats. "
