* Crossposting, and Surprises Happened... *

Very recently I started thinking hard about moving - from a Mastodon instance to an alternative platform with more features. I have enjoyed this process, and wrote about it yesterday :

Muensterland.Social – a new Instance joined -- write.tedomum.net/rgx/muenster.

After staying up late one night, I had found a good instance, created and configured my account. Then on to bed, it was late.

Next day, as part of making it a productive account, I went on to configure a **Crossposter** for it.

That is the Topic of today's Blog : write.tedomum.net/rgx/crosspos

... and it had some surprising results.

@freemo @design_RG @arteteco @realcaseyrollins - for folks who do not want to block Gab entirely (our preference) our advice is at least silencing them helps. Then they are still there for admins who want to allow their instance to support that but at least uses not following it are not shown it.

P.S. I am a Canadian.

@freemo @design_RG I agree too. I had the pleasure of blocking gab early on in my fediverse experience. I'm quite capable of removing things I don't like. I don't need an admin/moderator to do this as this is censorship.

I'm all for free speech but with that comes a responsibility to behave, be respectful, and treat people how one would want to be treated.

Unfortunately give some people access to the Internet and they think that hrough their anonymity they can be obnoxious. There is always a minority like this. Unfortunately!

So, thank you for treating us like adults, giving us the freedom to choose. This is just one of many reasons I like qoto.org!

:ablobcool:

@freemo is Qoto on Leonie's whitelist, do you know?

I am getting some errors in Pinafore connection.

@koyu is a member here at Qoto as well, and I am thankful to her for the service I also enjoy at her instance, now targeted in this way.

Cheers, friend. Hope this will resolve itself soon.

A friend has been forced to Whilelist Only their instance.

This due to people ganging up on the administrator, the arseholes in the fedi block brigade.

Stunning, elegant. Can see the screen quality clearly on the photos.

@design_RG

It's a free course on Coursera: coursera.org/learn/mathematica

It looks like the next start date is June 22nd. Once you enroll though, you should have access to all the content. The "due" dates are just if you'd like to follow along with the rest of the class.

Again, it might be too high level for a lot of people, but for those of us who struggle with math (i.e., me), it seems like a good transition to START the transition to higher levels of math (which still provokes a bit of anxiety, if I'm being honest). The PDFs they recommend reading prior to the first lesson are provided, and started untangling the gooblygook that is (apparently) set theory symbolism and stuff.

I feel like those 2 documents alone can help take some of the math symbolism anxiety away and turn it into something that can be broken down and understood.

* Does it Matter, what Instance you Use ? *

It most certainly DOES, for me it's a huge consideration. As the results I can achieve vary, and so do the local resources at hand...

# Case in Point - the impact of Higher Visibiltiy Text

Using enhanced text is common practice in most fields of communications. I have been yearning for it -- see the screenshot below, a post made 3 min ago, at an instance that does support text format.

in that case, a user could also do the same without trouble.

# What is Special here :

* Bold, Italicized and Underline styles applied to text.

* UGLY naked URL link addresses, do you see any? Nope, and there are 4 Live linked places in that Toot. (that is not counting the hashtags either.)

* A TITLE that shows, it's called a Heading in html parlance. The Title at the top is formatted as H1, the largest one possible. Code used to force that? One single character. A "#', followed by a space. Done. H1 title.

The Mastodon developers have received suggestions, requests and CODE contributions directly to their own Git Hub base; yet, it has been denied acceptance.

Well, I want it, and will use it. Elsewhere, until Qoto possibly joins the cutting edge too.

on the prowl...

@Sphinx

Forgot to mention that, as I documented and commented with Freemo, this is working perfectly at Koyu.space - - so it's something to do with out css files for the AWI themes.

Jeff will be looking at the possibilty of installing some of the Glitch Social code next time he does an upgrade here -- which is much easier to do and for users base than a full switch to Pleroma and a huge Database that probably needs careful conversion to new platform.

@Sphinx Here's a snapshot of how the new Toot Editor appears when I click in the Pencil icon.

There is a Bug -- which I noticed and mentioned to @freemo, in that if there's an image in the area, it will Overlay the Editor - which is not supposed to happen.

* Screenshot # 1 is when all is working well.

* Screenshot # 2 is showing the same toot editor, the one I am writing this on, I just slid the Slider on the Left Panel down.

And a freaking big photo hid my editor. Arghh.

This has happened, and the Client layout is SO Functional otherwise that I have been putting up with it for months -- there's NO better way to use my screen for me, for posts that I do.

I like Long Form text, and the defaults are sub-standard, to be polite.

I have posted and will try to get someone from the , dev teams to look at this idea and consider supporting it.

My belief is that it is a Very Functional and elegant use of a wide screen display. And, for a Boom to productivity.

2 screenshots attached.

@Sphinx
It runs off of Glitch-Soc, which has a whole lot of added features on top of Vanilla #Mastodon
@design_RG

@design_RG Agreed we all have our own limits and values, and what we do / do not want to see or engage with, power to the users.
