Procrastination is a super-motivater. I can get anything done, as long as it’s helping me procrastinate from some other task.

@digital_carver This post of yours might be four months old, but I am living it! LOL

@asief
is your brain suddenly remembering so many more unfinished tasks, too? 😀 it’s like all these todo items sleep in the background, until there’s a long laborious task and then they suddenly wake up and want to be done!

@digital_carver exactly. I'm otherwise not even aware of these mental tasks. Come some deadline and they just magically appear out of nowhere. Today it was Mastodon. Other times it's cleaning, some movie, a long saved article, etc. I don't regret today's though.

@digital_carver I'm wondering if it's symmetrical (like, can I be motivated to do cleaning by avoiding paperwork but also vice versa?)

@digital_carver
I've actually been able to use that ro my advantage recently. Scheduled something I eventually needed to do but was be likely to get lost in, for the last 1-2h of each work day. Got it done nicely, without it eating up the time I needed for more urgent tasks.

tried it again sometime later and ended up spending over a week on something I didn't really plan to do, while delaying other things ... nope, not an easy recipe.
