if linux is so great why isnt there a linux key on my keyboard

@igeljaeger There is it looks like 4 little terminal windows in a grid like fashion dissolving into bits.. Because it represents console **windows** we usually just call it the "windows" key for short.

@freemo @igeljaeger I call it by its real name, the Hyper Key. People have forgotten the concept of Meta/Super/Hyper

How do you figure they mean the same thing? They mean very different things.

@endlessmike

That is not an argument for them having the same modern day definition. Etymology does NOT dictate definitions.

@se7en @igeljaeger

@se7en

Again, etymology does NOT define our words for us. Definitions exist as they are regardless of their entymology and in no language int he world is an argument of etymology sufficient to argue a particular definition of a word. It does however tell you a bit about the history of how a word might have got its meaning, even if the meaning has since become very different.

If you want to express the fact that your heart is racing and exermly active that day are you really going to tell me both these sentances do that and are equally correct:

I am super today

I am hyper today

@igeljaeger @endlessmike

@freemo @igeljaeger @endlessmike lmao, I'm talking about in reference to the actual computer terms related to bucky bits

@se7en

Ohhh weird, you started talking about latin.. not sure what latin has to do with computers then but ok, if you mean a more recent use of the word thats different.

@igeljaeger @endlessmike

@se7en

OOps my fault.. Just checked your link though. It seems to suggest the bucky bits had different bits for hyper and super...

@igeljaeger @endlessmike

@freemo @igeljaeger @endlessmike Yes, seems to be my own mistake. I myself am a bit confused now.
@freemo @se7en @igeljaeger Within the context of a keyboard their definitions are similar enough to say they are effectively the same.
