For all the connoisseurs out there... Which cannabis isolates have you tried. Leave your opinions and questions in the comments.

@freemo
hard to tell, I'm buying thc cartridges and have no idea there are differences, only sativa/other one

@AncientGood If you are buying just random cannabis cartridges then it is likely just a random extraction and has a mix of everything in it. That said it is likely mostly some form of THC, THCa, and CBD for the bulk of it.

@freemo
well, they have labels "sativa", "indica" and "hybrid" (meaning mix of two) and they have some small percentage of cbd in it (I guess because it's doesn't worth to make it more pure for sake of smoking). Oh, and sometimes in form of resin instead of oil mix

sativa so far favorite, if you happens to know what kind is that (closest to poll choices), I'll gladly vote

@AncientGood Not the same thing. Sativa is a strain, the choices here are chemical names of the stuff in cannabis responsible for the effects.

Basically Sativa, Indica, and Hybrids will have all four of these chemicals in it. Indica will usually have a bit higher levels of CBD than sativa is all.

@freemo If can find them in your area, Himalaya brand cartridges are excellent, as are their resin sugars.

In terms of flower, I prefer indica heavy strains, so here are some of my faves that I try to go for when looking at extracts:

Obama
King Louie
Blueberry Muffin
OG Kush
AK-47
Durban Poison

On the sativa side, I'll never turn down a White Widow. Wedding Cake is a nice hybrid, as is Cherry Pie.

Not so hot on:

Gelato strains (underpowered, bad taste profile)
Zskittles (migraines from this strain for some reason)

@Arotrios

While a lovely choice of flower there, to be clear, this post is about the psychoactive chemicals in cannabis when isolated in their pure form and consumed directly.

Oils and extracts are usually a mix of these chemicals (with THCp and v being in very small quantities). The oil is usually just the first step, it is then seperated into its pure chemicals in this case.

@freemo ahh - thanks for the clarification. That level of chemistry is something I don't have access to - resin extracts are about as far as my experience goes, and I don't believe I've encountered anything that's a pure isolate in the marketplace as of yet. The flower suggestions were posted because those strains are what I look or avoid for when buying extracts and cartridges.

@Arotrios If you live in the USA you can just order it online. With the passing of the farm act its all legal nationally now.

@freemo I do - it's legal to order online within the state, but not across state lines still. The Farm Act passed in 2018 only legalized the shipment of hemp across state lines, so it's still technically illegal to ship active cannabis and some extracts on the federal level (not that there aren't plenty of people doing it).

This means you get product siloed in various states (can't get OR weed in CA), and it limits what brands that provide isolates can do in terms of legal shipment. I haven't seen any isolates in my local shop yet, but that being said, I may not have been looking hard enough (I tend to prefer flower), so I'll keep a look out. I do expect the laws to change soon with the the hopeful passage of the SAFE Act.

@Arotrios

No.. the farm bill legalized hemp and hemp **derived** products... which means they are allowed to concentrate the stuff normally in weed and ship it as long as it comes from hemp and not weed.

The only restriction is on THC-delta-9 itself, in this case it is limited to 0.3% concentration by weight. Being the active ingredient this does limit you you a bit since you can only get it in gummies and edibles in its isolated form.

You can also get around the above by getting THCa which decomposes into THC-delta-9 but is itself not delta-9 so its legal under the farm bill.

@freemo Well, then I got news for the growers I know that have been telling me otherwise... thanks! ;)
