So apparently after this guy posted some screen shots of me posting the attached he rage quit, said he was deleting his account, and well, did.. at least after he messaged me with some threats and I blocked him...
I have to say, that doesnt make me happy. I really would have rather him just act like a mature adult, he could have just walked away more politely, or just moved on.. in fact a simple "Im sorry" would have been enough for me to let bigons be bigons....
While his attitude suggests him leaving is better for the fediverse, frankly its not what I'd call a win, anytime someone is this immature no one wins.

@freemo I can forgive storing chemicals with jewelry freemo, everybody's done it, but an elemental halogen? You crossed the line this time: everyone knows you store your halogens WITH your alkali metals and electrolyze AS NEEDED. Free halogens just say "screw it, *un-electrons your atoms*", and then everyone has a bad time 😂
Note to self: Dont store your elemental iodine water purification chemicals in the same drawer as your jewlery for 2 years as you travel the world..... I came home to literally a pile of rust where most of my jewelry used to be :)
Of all the good things my mother taught me growing up there is one that I think is the best she has instilled in me:
Always offer anyone who needs it food and water... in fact, when you can try and actively find people who need a meal and dont just feed them, but sit with them and be a friend to them if they want when you feed them.
Probably the single biggest thing you can do to change the world with very little money.

It's pretty horrible when you agree with people in principle, but they are are unprincipled liars exaggerating or making up "facts" whole-cloth, and in doing ruining any positive vibes you'd have interacting with them. "Uhm... dudes, you are right, but you DO NOT have to *LIE* about it, do you?"
Man the rhetoric on the fediverse gets soooo tiring... why does everything need to be exagerated beyond all reality... the reality is horrible enough, there is no need!

He went on about how he'd shoot drug smugglers on the border.
He went on about how he'd blockade Mexico with the navy to "stop the flow of drugs".
He went on about abolishing unanimous juries to administer the death penalty.
He wants to expand use of the death penalty outside of murder.
Censorship of books in libraries.
Censorship of views in higher education.
He talks big about all that tough on crime stuff.
Lots of talk about the border and "finishing the wall".

Going back to the point of sovereignty as its original definition as you shared "absolute control and autonomy"... well in the USA sovereignty is split. The federal government doesnt have it because they can not do certain things, and thus dont have absolute power (points 1 - 4 are powers the federal government doesnt have over states and states are sovereign in those regards).
That is why when we talk about sovereignty without any adjectives before it we say that sovereignty int he USA is shared between the federal and state governments, each taking a piece of the pie and only collectively can their powers be seen as sovereign as a whole.
