Bluesky BRIDGE is similar to Fediverse and it's culture?

Bluesky BRIDGE is similar to Fediverse and it's culture?

Maybe you think it's just like another email provider added?
(No I think)

Notes on DISsimilarities of protocal and providers in the Fediverse context...

TLDR
█1█ It's not using the same protocol for a start - if it was more native then maybe, which is why █2█ is important

█2█ The culture is why we came here, ethics and ethos, promise of no capitalism or concretely less by saying NO to some things...

and why we came here (not there) in the first place...

-------------------
LONGER VERSION: More points
-------------------
Few people mention it's just like email Bluesky being added.... so a bit about that:

█ Email / SMTP protocol is or was mostly the same across all providers, whereas bridging like Bluesky is a more different.

More like mimicking or tapping into our protocol which is more like tapping into our culture / ethos without believing in it/
Not believing in making it more free / less capitalistic selling out (of everything not just data).

It is the main reason why we came here in the first place and why we will also leave if it gets too twitter-like / Bluesky invaded).

If you believe in "Jack Dorsey" then he has quit the project already as a sign of what he thinks.

Jack Dorsey has removed his Bluesky account a while back and not working on it at all other than general board of council, so this as a kind of bar / stronger signal perhaps = not being part of it any more makes it more clear without reading overly into it too much either.

Bluesky =
█ much more commercial entities and culture vs. what we defined as not.
█ and then making the users we were choosing from come back here as personal politics is obviously different endangers us by making it 'too easy' (commercial) again and too uncultured (people who do not choose their servers on principle / no-interest in community or caring about the protocol) is just more of the same reasons for this side of the differences,

Overall lacking of care or detail in life (users and company are different) that is spreading like a cancer for all the providers in the world and it's users. So we learned these lessons many times. Don't let them in, ok they might try but don't invite them! 🤨

█ Mastodon :mastodon: and Fediverse :fediverse: was clearly opposite to many things and just turning this into another kind of snoop-city is not great for me/many.
We see everything converted into the same shit show, from taxis to the next thing...

Linux people sometimes negative towards beginners, extreme or unhelpful?... (Examples from podcast: Late Night Linux #267)...

"It doesn't make you a bad Linux user for using Windows also."

Good Points / Notes....
♥ being an advocate and not a gatekeeper,
♥ being tolerant of other people’s choices
♥ accepting that not everyone can use Linux
♥ spreading the word that Linux has improved over the years
♥ contributing where you can

Chris from does really well in explaining typical reactions people have towards Windows etc and discusses his Promoting Linux: An End-User Manifesto video related to all this.

Mastodon helps gives Google YouTube adverts from our links 99999999 per day - it bugs me...

because there is a better way already...

(use filtering sites... redirect.invidious.io)

...for 0 adverts / less bad code!

It's a loss of our efforts not to...
Easy fix / can be optional replacement by Mastodon itself...

Hope Mastodon makes option to turn all youtube.com/ links to
redirect.invidious.io/

(switch on and off to make optional sure!)

We have choices like @invidious ...
LET US USE IT!!!

At least a few people higher up could endorse this and get it actioned... BOOST!! 🚀 :boost:

I'd like to continuing to educate about filtering the bad code amd ask heads of code makers and software to implement replacement of server words - simple.... redirect.invidious.io ...

To filter aggressive tracking / dangerous ways for freedom...

Like Icarus- are tech people trying to touch the clouds?....

Can you imagine how powerful and even good it might feel to have so much power at your finger tips...

Like Icarus- are tech people trying to touch the clouds in the same way?.... to feel that warm glow?

Must be similar - having a mass of electrically-charged information-processing stuff at your finger-tips that can do almost anything - lights blinking like crazy... like an extension of your own being!

Touching and even Owning the clouds... Icarus style: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icarus

Obviously can be too much for one person to "fly too close to the sun", but perhaps many will try and industry knows it too.

In the right hands, it might just win it for us as a more responsible version of the status-quo... called Fediverse but ultimately something will cut somewhere...

So I wouldn't encourage anyone to try to touch the cloud or indeed think it can be all done remotely without A LOT of conscious humanity involved almost before or in between all that industrial BIGTech...

Something more like this for real happiness:

"Everyone believes in the freedom of the bathroom..." (Having a bathroom each to avoid problems of sharing?)... [Interesting Comment about human challenges: see point #2]...

Comments from Video...
invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=Lf2nv

@rwess said:

Good one! The larger and longer (in time) you can make the moral scope the better.

Unfortunately I'm not sure we're up to it. 4 things:

█1) I hate guys like Stalin but he was right in this: “a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic” - same goes for other immoral acts, like torture, or any abuses for economic reasons (e.g. various forms of slavery).
Similarly, Asimov's famous metaphor: "If two people live in an apartment, and there are two bathrooms, then both have what I call freedom of the bathroom, go to the bathroom any time you want, and stay as long as you want to for whatever you need. Everyone believes in the freedom of the bathroom. But if you have 20 people in the apartment and two bathrooms, no matter how much every person believes in freedom of the bathroom, there is no such thing. You have to set up times for each person, you have to bang at the door, aren't you through yet, and so on. And in the same way, democracy cannot survive overpopulation. Human dignity cannot survive it. Convenience and decency cannot survive it. The value of life not only declines, but it disappears. It doesn't matter if someone dies." - Morality and dignity are intertwined, and fragile.

█2) Also, I think the S-risks in "the wild" are usually greatly overstated. If the ecosystem is healthy and balanced the number of survival niches for all kinds of sentients is immense and there is plenty of pleasure. If the ecosystem is "tight" and survival niches become squeezed (e.g. due to human incursion) then the S-risks increase greatly.

█3) I would pay the $5 in "Pascal's mugging". I'd maybe ask a few more questions though - and if the mugger answered that he was investing it in Bitcoin, for the long term, to save those masses of suffering beings in the future - I'd give him $10. 😁

█4) We humans are great exploiters and deniers. We will teach AI that behavior; we already have. AI will either replace us or fix us (if it deems it worth its while.) - or maybe it will just "fix" us like we "fix" cats and dogs, and we'll just naturally die out from lack of procreation... So it goes... (as Vonnegut would say).

AI might just be like any other business machine or mechanism - just used by to replace humans ("replaced by robots" style)...

AI might just be like any other machine or mechanism used by other mankind:

- to save need for human jobs
(and pay them less for more mundane jobs as a result of magnification of specialist or idiot / loser roles)

- to 'save' human decision-making (decrease human friction and get your way more often from top to bottom)

- Top-down-to-Tech-to-Public process as increasing leverage as human communication and skill and real community is reduced / replaced (although admittedly it wasn't perfect but a robot version not great either)

Like if git hub co-pilot can pull coding rendering you obsolete / useless (or good for that supermarket job).

The reason I stick to us and is because there was never really money in good things from bad / col people- they ONLY wanted to take advantage more from people like giving them debt is similar to giving job. We need a better way and even if that's cringe FreeSchool and your stuff / their stuff :) We have enough numbers to "stick it to the man" and that mentality often...
