Well, if this isn't clear IDK what is...

"What I am concerned about is that [solutions] seem not to go far enough [eg] the UK's #OnlineSafetyAct ... was catalysed through very real concerns but [doesn’t] look at the [big tech] business model. They take as a given these mass social platforms. And the solutions often look like extending surveillance and control to government ... not looking at how we attack the surveillance business model that is at the heart of [big tech]" - @Mer__edith
Yes, exactly

Does OFGEM really believe that people can’t understand unitised energy costs? kWh of electricity and a volumetric measure of gas.
I can’t but think this ‘average’ cost per home stuff is meaningless to most householders.
You go look at your meter, it’s showing kWh electric/m³ gas comsumed.
@bloor there is a media push, from some quarters, who are really anti EV. I talk about cars all the time, I have a podcast on it, so get to see this nonsense everywhere.
BMW isn't giving up on EV, that's just a lie on a headline.
Hydrogen doesn't make sense, as it all stands, for personal transportation. BUT it might have a use with heavy goods and even light commercial vehicles as the EV offerings do not suit most of the use cases right now.
The tedium of fanatics (both sides) is large.
@freemo Went thru a phase of same on Txitter. Blocked & reported every single one. Eventually went away but the inconsistency of response to reports was just inane.
I wish more companies had tech support like @beasts - problem resolved in minutes, clear explanation of what was broken, how to avoid the problem in the future, and info for follow-up. No scripts, no escalation, no call centre. So good.

‘Following’ one of the BBC accounts as expected. Assuming bbc.social is a single instance. To best of my knowledge, qoto doesn’t apply onerous blocks. Some recent exchanges suggest qoto may be included on block lists shared through the fediverse. As a user, I have limited ability to diagnose. Perhaps a sign-up to a second instance may be a useful tactic.
@bloor @alexlomas
TS, apparently, operated her own F900 but disposed of it recently. The recent furore over the flights from Japan back to US & then out to Aus involved her use of Vistajet aircraft (rent-a-jet). Identifying which aircraft required a simple guessing game of Vistajet aircraft departing TS’ known location (eg perfomance venue) in a specific timeframe.
The FAA’s PIA scheme (& LADD) are limited to the US. PIA could be circumvented by coordinating Live-ATC with reception of transponder transmissions.
Nearly all civil aeronautical communications can be eavesdropped with an RTL-SDR, appropriate antenna, and software (possible exception being SBB AMS(R)S).
Not convinced ADS-B is the ‘problem’.
ATM & AOC comms aren’t intended to pander to the privacy whims of ‘celebrities’, they contribute to the safe operation of aircraft. As @bloor writes, there’s some depth to the safe operation of an aircraft, not least the place from which it operates.
Noting that US military (‘state’) aircraft have also begun to mess with ADS-B usage (Air Mobility Command types not frontline operational types).

What works is publishing more content, your feeds are really thin at present!
@mooch I did check it out with the mod/admin/provider of my instance but couldn’t resolve. I belive Qoto does run on fork of Mastodon. But at least one of the BBC accts does ‘work’ as expected…
I said it several times, but with Ivory's latest announcement, let me repeat it: we (the Mastodon team) are working on implementing Quote Posts. This is a much more complex feature than showing a preview for a link to a post, which is done at the moment by multiple clients.
It is a complex task and we have been working on defining the feature and the protocol-level details for some time. We are moving forward, and there are fewer hard questions to answers, but progress is there.

@billt
Maybe you, or a colleague, might explain why my requests to follow all but one of these BBC accounts are stuck?
Only BBCRD has delivered a [Following] result while the others all show [Requested].
I’m very puzzled? Is there an issue with the instance I elected to adopt (qoto.org) or smthg else entirely.
If it’s possible, I’d really appreciate some feedback, thank you.
