The ‘author’ tried that a number of times.
He had previously built a flight path prediction tool. Using regularly operated routes, which generally follow airways (perhaps with offsets), and knowing weather (head/xwinds), paths could be predicted but a number of times his predictions/alleged WSPR derived tracks were contradicted by ADS-C data logged at adsbexchange.

Jeff Wise… when he parted with the Independent Group in early 2015 I knew exactly where he was going, he hasn’t contradicted that appraisal.
He knew how intractable the problem is.

Have to say, the US Army & defence tech companies sponsoring a music festival is peak enshitification.

I’m still pissed at Elon for two things:

1) making me learn how to spell Mastodon
2) that he didn’t buy and ruin LinkedIn instead

I want to try the "make 50 of something" technique again!

So this week, I'll try to find 50 things to do with a Software Defined Radio! 📻

I'll use this simple USB dongle, which you can get for around $30.

The discussion about "Lemmy and the GDPR" is interesting.

Some broad thoughts:

1) Software does not need to (and, indeed, cannot) comply with the GDPR

The GDPR imposes obligations on people, not software.

There is no such thing as "GDPR-compliant software".

Well-designed software may help a person in scope of the GDPR comply with it, in respect of their processing of personal data, sure.

This shining example of a man drove his Cybertruck on our local beach near Santa Cruz and of course got it stuck. This car is really becoming a symbol for poor life choices.

OpenCore Legacy Patcher might get the Mini up to Monterey & so a presently supported OS?

Given some knowledge of the MacOS directory services I likely could have simply modified group membership, that might come later.
While intermittently cursing MacOS’ obfuscation of something analagous to other *nixes ‘single user mode’, my realisation that recovery mode affords, practically, the same thing has been a useful learning point.

I hit a snag after the OpenCore upgrade to Ventura. Somehow, the ‘admin’ privileges previously attributed to my user had been rescinded.
Booting OCLP recovery is at present (v1.3.0) non-functional so I used my Big Sur install media to get a ‘terminal’ & delete the AppleSetupDone file off the system volume thus enabling me to rerun local machine setup & create a new user with admin privileges.

I am quite excited by this… the Macbook Pro that is displaying the installer is officially only supported by Big Sur, OpenCore Legacy Patcher has configured a Ventura install. The hardware was bought to provide a donor screen to a more recent Macbook & this is a useful ‘sandbox’ unit for testing, experimenting, and so on.

Worse, those on Insta. A few local fast food emporia post their menus only on FB or Insta. It’s as if they don’t know how the algorithms work. A single page cardd or similar site would be so much more customer friendly. Pet peeve.

Trajectools 2.0 released 🎉

It's my pleasure to share with you that Trajectools 2.0 just landed in the official QGIS Plugin Repository. This is the first version without the "experimental" flag. If you look at the plugin release history, you will see that the previous release was from 2020. That's quite a while ago and a lot has happened since, including the development of…

@TCatInReality @Npars01 I don't care if a charity is tax exempt, even a church, but... to qualify for that tax-exempt status, they should have to open up their books to the general public.

Every. Single. Transaction.

A lot of them would scream louder about that than they would about paying taxes.
