If you want to be a bit disturbed: if Socrates lived today he would look much more like this guy than a nerdy philosophy professor checking student grades & academic rank who happens to lecture on Socrates. youtu.be/6VWD5ZMMp1U twitter.com/nntaleb/status/127

What steps should one take to be well prepared for the soon-to-come Greater Depression?

Anyone in the community feel like helping us out designing a landing page for us? I'm too busy to do it myself right now.

Seems like everything except the mastodon instance is down (peertube instance, discourse, nextcloud, funkwhale...)

I have no idea why, let's wait for @freemo

@freemo is the git.qoto.org down? All my personal project management is in that git! could you please help?

Religions w/Marranism/Taqiyya:
They nominally use establishment's heroes for their worship (Ali as portmanteau for the Alawites & others, representing St Georges, Adonis, Baal, & all Levantine gods).

Under Soviets, Buryats used names of the French Communards.

โ€œBriefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murrayโ€™s case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backwardโ€”reversing cause and effect. I call these the โ€œwet streets cause rainโ€ stories. Paperโ€™s full of them.

In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.โ€

@freemo I agree. but the kings of old had "something to loose", modern "kings" dont have anything to loose but all the things to gain! :)

New law: Any politician who votes for a war needs to be the first one in line when we storm the beaches.

@freemo Its called "skin in the game" principle, Prof. Nassim Taleb has written a book with the same title.

Hundreds on years ago kings had harems and riches but were first to loose head in war. now plutocrats have more than harems and riches but are termed "TBTF"
