We hope that #FIDE will reconsider their new rules about transgender players, which in our view seem discriminatory and potentially harmful. Several national #chess federations have publicly expressed similar concerns. We urge FIDE to review the situation, consult with players who would be affected by the rules, and work towards a more inclusive solution.

@lichess Isn't it inclusive enough that literally anyone can play _open_ competitions?

@josemanuel @lichess I would love a good explanation on why there are gender-segregated tournaments in the first place. It's not "inclusive enough", it's discriminatory for no reason, especially when you add all the backlash against female players present everywhere in the chess world.
I also do not agree that this whole trans fiasco is such a big problem, but that's because I believe your gender shouldn't matter at all in chess, not because I wouldn't care about transgender people.

@luna @josemanuel @lichess I mean, yeah, this fits in the discrimination against female players that I've mentioned. Instead of fixing the problem itself, they moved it away by shoo-ing the women from the actual big tournaments. So if you want to play serious chess as a woman, you're still most likely to go to open tournaments as well and face the same issues, but now FIDE (and the players) can say "Your problem, you had the female only cups if you wanted."
