Anyway, as long as you're respectful, use it you wish. Just keep in mind that Mastodon people won't be able to see the quote, only your post. Other applications, like Pleroma, Misskey and their forks, support it just fine.

It is also important to note that the quoted account does not get notified, so you may want to mention them. Then again, you don't have to.

@thor As far as I understand it, it's just like followers-only, but only for a predetermined subset of followers. I don't know whether Mastodon has anything like that or not, but I find it pretty handy.

@thor In qoto we have a thing called ‘circles’, which is similar to followers-only visibility. I added my Spanish-speaking followers to one and that's how nobody else receives my posts in Spanish. Nobody's complained so far.
