I sadly have to take those words back. Not the best wishes or the appreciation towards PV and his work, of course, but the comment about us slackers being less grumpy than other computer users.

Ever since I moved from lilo to GRUB (I know it's not related, but it all started at that point), Slackware -current has become increasingly unstable for me, and several updates have gone wrong, some of them terribly so.

The one thing that pisses me off about qoto's migration is that it is now hosted on AWS. I have everything (well, that's probably not true. Let's just say a lot of) Amazon blocked in my firewall.

I was happier when qoto was hosted on OVH, or wherever it was, but what am I going to do? I am a guest here. I shouldn't even complain.

Today I could test chatgpt for the first time and I must say I am not the slightest bit impressed. I had hoped it would be more human-like in its conversation, but its answers are mostly boilerplate and legalese.

I thought at least it would be fun to use it to help me learn stuff (like Math or practicing foreign languages), but apparently getting it to do something like that would be a full-time job _for me_.

@vaartis I do have Anna Karenina in Russian, but I can't speak a word of it, so... Actually, maybe it was Ukrainian and I could never tell. (It was given to me by an Ukrainian friend many years ago.)

If I ever visit Russia, I'll buy everything Dostoievski and some Chekhov. If you have more recommendations, please let me know.

@coolboymew In general, I try not to follow people who wouldn't reply to me if I talked to them. If they're not interested in interacting with other people, why should I care about whatever it is they say?

Nobody is saying they are, but it's certainly wrong for the recipient to make them public, and even more so in screenshot form (that is, without mentioning the other person). DMs are just conversations between the mentioned parties that don't involve anyone else, and that's how they should remain.

In any case, don't worry. I will never send you a DM, so it's ok if we disagree.

@GabeMoralesVR@mastodon.gamedev.place When we say there's no expectation of privacy for DMs, that only means that admins can read them (i.e., don't send passwords or things you'd rather be kept secret), not that the other person is allowed to make them public if they so wish.

The only rule imposed on the other person is the implicit assumption that DMs are for their eyes only, because, otherwise, you would have used some other visibillity level.

No matter how you try to defend the other person's actions, they betrayed @louis@emacs.ch's trust and that's inexcusable.
