@brendannyhan Hi Brendan. If you and other commentators support this ☝🏼view enough to RT here, why not do the decent thing and abandon the toxic #Twitter platform completely?
There's many on #Masto than will either refuse to follow you or at least refuse to boost your posts because of your cross-posting. (For the moment I fall into the latter category only, but - with Musk's recent antics, I may join the former sooner than later. )
Just a thought 🤷♂️
The devolution of Twitter into a cesspool of toxic garbage reminds me of this comic I drew a few years ago.

I have #ADHD and struggle with emails. Things have been easier since I created this autoreply. I thought I'd share for those who haven't seen it before!
The #IndyRef2 case this morning is fascinating in many ways.
It is not an appeal - it is a rare example of the UK Supreme Court (SC) acting as a court of first instance - which it can on certain devolution issues.
This means today's judgment, in turn, cannot be appealed.
I am full of admiration for the legally ingenious way in which Scottish government framed this case so as to get it before the SC.
I was also impressed by the advocacy of Scottish government's Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC
Until we address the issue of agricultural indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the foodchain and the expectation of cheap meat we cannot hope to tackle antibiotic resistance. 😞 https://www.theguardian.com/global/2022/nov/21/mcdonalds-and-walmart-beef-suppliers-put-public-health-at-risk-with-reckless-antibiotics-use?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Do you like #maps Even if you don't, the National Library of Scotland https://maps.nls.uk/index.html site is amazing! Try exploring the Georeferenced maps with the 'Spy' function. Best procrastination activity ever!
Quick question to people who teach first year university (any subject, any country). Did you make any changes to your course because your incoming students had their education disrupted by #COVID19 ? #HigherEducation
(Please boost, so I can reach a wider audience)😀
@auschwitzmuseum I edited a piece about the architects of Auschwitz once. Somehow, knowing how those buildings were deliberately, carefully designed and constructed to suit their vile purpose really brought home the horror. #NeverForget #NeverAgain
Small #FediTip: if you encounter a message or thread that is in any way useful to you, bookmark it straight away.
Since the fediverse doesn't have full text searches, it will be very difficult to find that particular thing again a few days later. Especially if you cannot remember who posted it or it has no hashtags.
Periodically review your bookmarks to do something with them and you should be set.
Firstly, I'd just like to say thank you to all the people who have liked, boosted and commented on my images, and to all the new followers I have. It's rather humbling. 😊
Today's shot comes from a magical day in the Scottish #Highlands, a few years ago, when I was photographing red squirrels.
These charming characters are incredibly agile and can jump great distances between trees.
Here I managed to capture one as it appears to be flying down my lens.
Today's picture is of Antony Gormley's Angel of the North. It's just outside Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
I just love it - it looks wonderful in all weathers and from all angles.
@RichardJMurphy I was hoping you would come to that conclusion. 🙂 Apparently the preferred approach to threading is to make the first Toot ‘public’, and all the follow-on Toots ‘unlisted’.
Where has the term immunity debt come from- certainly not immunology- your immune system is not a muscle that needs constant exposure. There is for example Evidence of immune memory persisting 90 years after the flu pandemic. It seems to be an excuse to avoid investing in clean air for schools n buildings and not project our kids with vaccines.
“..Why do you always carry a giant carrot around?”
Nathan: “To make people smile… You see, one day I went to an op shop and I bought a giant turnip. I was carrying it home and noticed how much it made people smile. That made me feel really good! ..then I made the giant carrot and carried it around town and I noticed a big difference. The diversity of people smiling and the number of people smiling was much greater. So I just kept carrying the carrot around because it was the most successful thing at making people smile.
I try to get out as often as possible but you have to be in the mood to do something like this… today I’ve been out here for about an hour and a half and I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of smiles. This is what’s so good about it, if I want to do something good I just grab the carrot and head on out.”
