@aral AMEN. And there is incredible value in deeply interacting with 10 people who then interact with 10 others whether on social media or in real life, who then go on to share the seeds we plant. As the sister of the Central Park Birder and the one who posted the video that went viral to the tune of 50 million worldwide, I know the power and draw of going viral. But instead of creating one potted plant choked with viral roots, we can create groves that grow into healthy forests.

If there were actually such a thing as moderate Republicans or Republicans that put country before party, they'd form their own caucus that'd vote with the Democrats to elect Jeffries and pass whatever truly bipartisan legislation they could in the next two years.

One fascinating thing about the House Republican's self-immolation is how it is substanceless.

McCarthy's opponents have no specific complaints about McCarthy.

They just don't like him.

And McCarthy has no specific rationale for being Speaker.

He just wants power.

My take from the floor: we have, for all practical purposes, 3 parties in Congress. Democrats, old-line country club Republicans and the MAGA/wingnut caucus. McCarthy tried to win the wingnuts with rules concessions that didn't win them over, but alienated the rest.
