I spent an extra night away but as it was pretty uncomfortable up the other river I migrated in the darkness of night up the Orwell.

There aren't many better places for a quiet morning coffee .

Boat jobs today. Followed by a quick sail and had back to the marina.

But not until I've fuelled properly in the appropriate mug...

#Introduction
Hi! I am a planetary geologist and #science #scicomm #writer, a #maker, and a #mom of two teen daughters. I'm 47. I wrote a book about #NASA Curiosity #Mars #rover and I often write about #space #exploration and #planets for #SkyAndTelescope. I have an #Etsy shop full of #handmade space-themed #jewelry and #sculpture. My first fandom was G1 #Transformers and I'm a lifelong SF/F reader. Current hyperfixation is #GoodOmens. Also, I am a #bharatanatyam #dancer!

My shot isn't quite up to @jacklowe 's standard 😄

On the move with 1 hand though, I'll roll out the excuses 😆

Mindblowing 🤯

#Whisper is an #openSource #speechRecognition model written in #Python by #OpenAI. I’ve just seen it in action. Extract an #mp3 from a video, run it through Whisper, and it turns every spoken word into text. It even does a very decent job in #Danish. Perfect for subtitling #TV and #video. I am very impressed.

@magicaltrout
It cannot be overstated: you all, and NASA's amazing #opensource / #opendata policies are the ones who created and keep this interest going.

Thank you! 😃

@magicaltrout
Joking, hinting or criticizing is not only welcome but necessary to keep some balance 🙂

Tried to find ways to present PIXL images before, with questionable results (img). PIXL is a unique instrument, though not an easy one to engage with on a frequent basis. But its findings published in papers and presentations are eagerly awaited 🤓

Meanwhile, trying to ground sensation with maps and other technical info may be a middle way to create interest.

New Artemis I Launch Footage from NASA

The launch footage of Artemis I just gets better and better. Today NASA released a new supercut of clips from the SLS launch.

We see the initial launch from various vantage points, including the rocket itself. The separation of the boosters and upper stage.

We even see the Moon from the perspective of the rocket. This is what we were waiting for.

Had an alternative opinion on some work today regarding how we do some user driven cloud deployment stuff and now they have pivoted and I'm doing the building....

And that folks is why you stay quiet in strategy meetings!

Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my actions

In Money Box Live on Wednesday we are looking at the shared finances of cohabiting couples - and what happens if they break up. There’s little legal protection- so are you cohabiting & have a q? Or a story to share? My email is felicity.hannah@bbc.co.uk, please get in touch (& reblog if you can x)

If you a running a Mastodon instance and are looking for a good way to take donations/recurring donations, I can help you avoid the Patreon 10% Venture Capital tax via a site running Ghost and Outpost. Not a biz offer, we will run this for free as a way to give back to #fediverse.

And if you already have a patreon, we can help you gracefully switch to something better without upsetting what you have set up now.

First bike ride in about 2 months this morning.... This is going to suck.
