@MingqingCai but the small-molecules are humble fellows and don’t brag about their merits becasuse they know that less is more...

Time for a proper #Introduction here: I am a #scientist working in #immunology. I am especially interested by how the immune system functions at barrier sites, during #autoimmunity, and how it is altered during #inflammation. I also strongly advocate for increasing scientific literacy, fighting #misinformation, promoting #equity , and prevent #ClimateChange

#Introduction.
I am a Senior Scientist @UW focusing on T cell #immunology interested in what constitutes the most beneficial T cell response to infection. Also fascinated by the complexities and oddities of non-mammalian immune systems.

Something people don’t know about me: In rare moments of quiet, I sketch (see work-in-progress pic).

I am here to keep up-to-date with the latest in science news, publishing, and banter. Might connect with the #indie music scene for some tunes too.

An interesting point on
“.... How do we truly define a today? ... Are making the “wrong” kinds of molecules?
Or have we entered a new era of drug modalities?
.... And just to prove chemists can continue to make the “right” kinds of molecules, here are some recent low Mw drug -
-       Tecfidera (Mw 144), approved 2013
-       Tavaborole (Mw 151), FDA approved 2014
-       Avibactam (Mw 265), FDA approved 2015
-       Benznidazole (Mw 260), FDA approved 2017
-       Migalastat (Mw 163), FDA approved 2018

How many novel small molecule drugs Mw<300 are yet to be discovered?”

First post an a short intro. I’m a medicinal chemist/drug discoverer in academia. My group works on a variety of areas: cancer and neuroscience mainly. For (permanent) fun, when my students discover an in vivo probe, it gets tattooed on me. Can’t wait for our #PROTAC project to be successful, may need my leg.

Hi everyone! I guess that it was about time, so this is my #introduction My name is Jordi, I'm Associate Professor at Uppsala University. I'm a screener, phenotypic drug discovery and automation are two of my professional passions. Otherwise you will find me playing with my kids, eating good food with the family, doing sports (Svensk Klassiker anyone?), and listening to music whenever time allows. See you around!

By way of #introduction, (or #introductions), I'm a writer. I write a column on science for the New York Times, and I also write books. ( carlzimmer.com/books/ ) The pandemic has taken up a lot of my working attention since early 2020, but other aspects of biology have obsessed me in previous years, & I now have some time for them again. Neanderthals, aliens, CRISPR, ecological collapse, etc.

Still pondering how best to use Mastodon. (I haven't deleted my Twitter account, at least not yet.)

#introductions Hi all, I notice many familiar faces on this server so I decided to move in. About myself: #drugdiscovery, #antibodies #engineering, #biotech, #startup. Look forwards to exchanging ideas about science and technology. 🤝

Time for my #introduction I suppose.

Was a #pharmaceutical journalist covering #pharma #biotech, #healthcare and #digitalhealth.

Now research director at a #lifesciences digital strategy consultancy, writing about many of the same themes, but also business-orientated topics like #customerexperience (#CX), #digital transformation and commercial strategy.

May also post about #music (particularly #punk and #indie), #Bengali language/culture, #art and #books.
