The NHS has problems, it's really not perfect or to be put on a pedestal. Having said that, I will defend to the hilt the right to free access to healthcare. This government's determination to destroy the NHS is blatant and will make everyone poorer.

I was waiting to shoot the rise of a supermoon when the clouds rolled in a ruined the spectacle. Instead of the moon crowning the tip of the Bay Bridge, a flock of pelicans passed over it, in perfect formation mimicking the shape of the bridge.

Mastodon has a very big surge of new users right now. There's no way to tell if it will be sustained, but at this early point it looks similar to Nov 18 when when Musk pulled the employee purge.
It is very challenging for system administration to accommodate so many new users. If your server starts to struggle, it is not broken and will get sorted out.

There have been 5 new ME/CFS studies & 15 new Long Covid studies.
Paper 3 looks at the tissue specific signature of human herpesvirus infection in those with ME/#CFS, specifically focusing on HHV-6 & EBV (Epstein Barr virus), where reactivation has been linked to a number of diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease & #MECFS.

Covid positive patients were much more likely to report symptoms during their initial infection and much more likely to be hospitalised. Yet their baseline Promis scores (for cognitive function, physical function and social participation) were similar to the non-covid group at baseline.
The covid positive group improved more in these areas after 3 months, but I'd suggests this might be beause the covid cohort were fitter to begin with. 2/3
@WesElyMD I'd suggest the cohorts in this study weren't well matched to begin with - "those in the COVID-19–negative group were older and more likely to be of non-White race (eg, Black or African American); be unmarried; have lower annual family income; have public insurance; be unemployed; receive COVID-19 testing in an ED; and have a higher prevalence of moderate or severe asthma, hypertension or high blood pressure, or diabetes" 1/3
