@realcaseyrollins @dexter I don't know what to tell you, even people like Rand Paul have submitted to Trump so I wouldn't put my hopes with Republicans too high, and a rise of the Libertarian Party seems as likely as one of the demsocs. But for now the US government has proven to have quite some pretty strong checks&balances so who knows.

@realcaseyrollins OK so get this: you are allowed only 1-2 minutes to edit up to, say, 10 characters. And you put a diff showing off the changes.
@xerz It's not that it's not possible, it's not it's not a good idea.
My issue with editing is this: you can have a post that goes viral, everybody like it and reposts it, but then the OP changes it so it says something completely different.
Another example is if somebody makes bad posts and people link to it, so the OP changes it so it says something completely different.

@SandiaMesa @judgedread @82wrangler @freemo @realcaseyrollins That's the goal. Each Soapbox update could potentially have a Mastodon version updated in the background. We'd just have to check that everything continues working each time we update Mastodon, and it would still require us to maintain a slightly modified Mastodon fork I'm calling Mastodon Engine.
@alex @SandiaMesa @judgedread @82wrangler @freemo I would like to see it add a toot URL to the end of the post, but when Gab/Soapbox renders it, it embeds the content of the post and removes the URL link from the soapbox post.
