@Geri which begs the question: why the hell would they leave France for UK anyway?
@rrb The first safe country is not the condition one seeks asylum. There are always a good number of other reasons: language, existing family contacts, etc

Was not trying to be reactionary (quite the opposite) and your points all make sense.
That said, the UK seems on a fast post-Brexit downward slide. (Not that Macron is great).
If I were seeking a new home, it would be low on the list.
