@basil @dheadshot I got the paywall too. Actually prevented me from scrolling so I couldn’t get the ‘done’ button back to close the window.

Love this from the first edition of the highway code.

Remember that all persons—pedestrians, cyclists, persons leading, riding or driving animals and the drivers of motor or horse-drawn vehicles—have the right to use the highway and an obligation to respect the rights of others. Good manners and consideration for others are as desirable and are as much appreciated on the road as elsewhere. Bear in mind the difficulties of others and try not to add to them.

@freemo @Liberonscien most interesting. Particularly that the blue and yellow respond to the treatment more effectively than the red.

Would also be interested to see how it goes with non-primary colours and patterns. Certain the image selected is one which lends itself well to the experiment.

@basil @dajbelshaw interesting thought.

I have a bit of experience with scripting in Photoshop and would think all the above is scriptable in that app. Uncertain about Gimp, but would be good if it could.

@basil how dare you! That is a disgraceful way to...

Oh, wait. A pleasant greeting on social media. It caught me off guard. Sorry.

@dajbelshaw fair call.

And gosh! That is a reduction in image size. I’ll be giving it a go this evening.

Olivia de Havilland has died at the age of 104. She was the last surviving star from "Gone with the Wind" (1939).

Symbolically, this year the novel "Gone with the Wind" has lost copyright protection and has become public domain.

@dajbelshaw great post and VERY, or should that be very, minimalist images.

Do you have before and after examples? Both in terms of image look and data size?

The only people who claim Intellectual Property isn't real or shouldn't be respected also tend to be the same people who cant support themselves off of intellectual pursuits.

Why is it always the second someone doesnt personally benefit from a right, any right, is the moment they think that right should be abolished?

1. Do you remember in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" Ginny Weasley wrote scary texts in blood on the wall while posessed by the Tom Riddle spirit?

A strange question: Who has the copyright to these texts – Ginny or Tom?

A strange answer: The same question has been considered by UK and US courts.

Here is a thread about the copyright to texts dictated by spirits and ghosts 👻

Amen to that!

It drives me to a frothing frenzy. Doubly so when I have paid for / am subscribing to the product or service.

I think the worst of it is the internet makes showing ‘impressive’ metrics to the board so easy. ‘We saw a 17% increase last month in engagement thanks to our new ultra-invasive click-bait campaign,’ says one arse of a marketing executive. Suddenly everyone is pushing adverts in a desperate bid to make their futile KPIs.

Argh!

@basil @dajbelshaw Amen to that Basil.

Also, if you are only getting Newsletters and Spam, that would seem to be a good reason to have a separate address. Keep everything in discrete domains. All important stuff comes here, everything else goes there.

But given the faff if you move companies, might be best to have a spam personal address and an important personal address.

Also, given the number of important personal things which leverage email (banking etc.), I wouldn't want the work system admin having access to those emails or the ability to reset my accounts.
