one could spin drews burnout followup in a way that it's not the hacker community which has a problem but that he has a questionable choice of friends, rapists and pedophiles.

this would of course be as unhinged as his blog posts.

> And fuck Richard Stallman and his enablers, his supporters, and the Free Software Foundation’s leadership as a whole. Shame on you. Shame on you.

channeling leah rowe, eh?

lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lib

that "fuck" is an interesting choice of words after lamenting about sexual harassment, pushing CoCs is ironic at best.

@bonifartius >>And fuck Richard Stallman and his enablers, his supporters, and the Free Software Foundation’s leadership as a whole. Shame on you. Shame on you.

using language like that, and repeating "Shame on you," only makes the author sound immature and not in control of his emotions--I don't understand why grown men chooes to write like this
@genmaicha @bonifartius > I don't understand why grown men chooes to write like this
It's as though there were something in the water (metaphorically, or perhaps not) contributing to the emasculate attitudes exhibited here.
@pwm @bonifartius that, and it's also typical nerd behavior, which is no longer policed by bullies as it was in the past
@genmaicha @bonifartius
Hopefully it will end soon, via whatever means. I wish for less homogenization, even though I exhibit channerisms which is the same shit with a different smell.

@pwm @genmaicha since he lives in NL now: maybe it's not the water but the weed :P

@genmaicha i think there was a us senator lady (or something like that) who did repeat the same sentence for about two minutes, working herself into a frenzy.

@josemanuel if i'd were to summarize it: drew devaults opinion that the fix for bad humans existing is doing more cancel culture.

@bonifartius I've never been to hacker spaces or things like that (I've been to manga conventions a couple of times), but I can't even imagine how people end up confessing their sex crimes to people they just met.

Also, did Drew at least go to the police with that information? A rapist magnet like him would be invaluable as an informer.

@josemanuel the few years i participated in the late 2000s were pretty nice, still tolerant in the old sense: "Hackers should be judged by their hacking, not bogus criteria such as degrees, age, race, sex, or position"

shifted pretty quick at some point mid 2010s. meritocracy went over board and was replaced with full throttle wokeness.
