@Okanogen Quote posts are cool for a few reasons, including being able to share something more complex than just links and threads.
With a link, someone will often click on it and get transported to a whole other instance.
With a quote post, you can see a sneak peek (although, be mindful that it's easy to take that peek out of context) and click onto it from the same instance.

Or a person can add context or personal experience to someone else's observation.
