Some time ago I started making faceplate PCBs for @chipperdoodles Anwaar platform. It is such a great idea focusing on the faceplates and reusing all the battery/controller/charging part. Getting creative and sharing your work is so easy and accessible. Can't wait until his @crowdsupply campaign starts and we hopefully see and share our Anwaar faceplate PCBs at all the cons (link in the thread).
This one has 30 charlieplexed 0402 LEDs forming a caffeine molecule.

Biobot has removed its covid wastewater dashboard and will no longer show covid wastewater data for the US.

~3 weeks after CDC stopped covid hospitalization data.

The page now: biobot.io/data/covid-19

If you don’t stand up for what’s right, what’s the real point of you.

Huge piles of #PFAS #foreverchemicals foam in Battle Creek, about a mile south of the #3m main research lab, where these were developed as a fire fighting foam. The groundwater here is contaminated from a dump site about 8 miles north, and probably from the laboratories.

The CDC has added new guidance for schools to their site. It is *not* COVID specific and titled "Preventing Spread of Infections in K-12 Schools".

I don't think it's great, but I also don't think it's bad. I see it as another tiny positive step in the process.

They do mention ventilation and filtration under "Everyday Actions for Schools to Prevent and Control the Spread of Infections" and masks make an appearance in a couple of places.

I think it is really important we speak out against this bill as it could be copy-catted in other states, and its just messed up, so I started an email campaign: TIME-SENSITIVE!: Join the email campaign to stop HB 237 from passing in NC House of Representatives! If passed, this bill will make it illegal to wear a mask in public even for medical reasons, more info at the-maskers-comic.yolasite.com We need to send these emails out ASAP!

My wife's reviewing a future Biology curriculum and she came to me with a sentence she needed to suggest a revision for because it was "just stupid." It said:

"Plants are easier to study because they don't move."

I tried to get her to change it to "Plants are easier to study because they don't scream" and apparently my "future's not in curriculum." :blobcatgooglyshrug:

When you consider that in 2023, Chinese factories put out over 80% of solar modules & battery cells, 65% of wind nacelles, & 56% of electrolyzers, the US & EU have some catching up to do if they're serious about #cleanenergy manufacturing. canarymedia.com/articles/clean

Any recommendations for books with just beautiful pictures of gardens? Wilder the better? I'm looking for inspiration 🤩 Pacific Northwest specific would be amazing but open to whatever.

CDC puts early end to free COVID vaccines for uninsured | The Hill

Hope you're going to like the number of Fall/Winter Covid outbreaks, starting with those who can't afford the full costs and spreading to those who don't vaccinate b/c reasons who could, and then to the rest of us. Here's hoping we don't get a nastier variant....

I read the whole article and it is a chilling account of a visit to a gathering of the scum of the earth. They have a lot of money and they're coming for ALL of us. As many have pointed out, Palestine is a testing ground which these people relish with glee.

I'm slowly realising that I probably have some mild #LongCovid

Since having covid (now had it twice since 2022): iron deficiencies, breathing problems, constant asthma, and now a sudden allergy to some foods apparently.

My partner and I have been careful throughout the pandemic but clearly not careful enough at times (twice each) since "opening up".

And though it could be far far worse, I feel pretty violated right now TBH.

One Weird Trick for solidarity:

Wear A Goddamn Mask

No one has to know whether you:

have Covid;

don't want to get Covid;

don't want anyone to see your face;

want to exercise the right to not have your face seen;

want to protest that legislators in some places are taking away the right to mask;

&c.

Still can't get over the fact that lawmakers in NC decided that wearing a mask was a crime.

The worst thing is that they are having a hard time justifying it, and no one who is not crazy is like oh what a great idea.

If I do not talk about where I live it is because this place has nothing great for it, and the rare people that are somehow decent here do not come from here.

Yes, I am outraged that despite having allergies that require me to wear a mask I do not have the freedom to look after myself.

#maskup

Friends, I have avoided Covid until last week. It's likely, since I don't get out too much, that I picked it up in the ophthalmologist's office. I lowered my guard and they weren't on guard to begin with. I am furious.

The last link above, to the actual bill, now states "Senate Judiciary Committee Substitute Adopted 5/14/24" without a link to the substitute. It took me a little digging to find a link to it.

I think the opening is pretty clear on the subject of whether they intend to remove the right to wear masks for health and safety reasons:

"SECTION 1
Under Article 4A of Chapter 14 of the General Statutes, Prohibited Secret Societies and Activities, it is generally a crime for an individual to wear a mask in public. However, under G.S. 14-12.11(a)(6), an
individual can wear a mask in public for the physical health or safety of the wearer or others. If an individual wears a mask in public for health or safety reasons, a law enforcement officer can require the individual to remove the mask during traffic stops and criminal investigations when the officer has reasonable suspicion or probable cause.

Section 1 of the PCS would repeal G.S. 14-12.11(a)(6), and individuals would no longer be able to wear
masks in public for health or safety reasons."

The state I live in (South of the US) is pushing a law to ban the mask in public for "health reasons".

This spring I have been so miserable because of the allergies that by necessity I decided to wear a #mask outside again despite taking strong medicine that won't allow me to be safe outside.

There is also a deadly pandemic going on but who cares I guess.

If I wear a mask that is to protect my health and also others.

I have no name to describe how messed up this is.
