7 rules of small town #Minnesota:
1. Never say you don't like something or someone.
2. Only certain people can gossip. You aren't one of them.
3. Local is a term that white people use to argue over who has lived on native land longer. You don't qualify.
4. Never disagree with how things are done.
5. If you sit on a board, expect a decision that would take 10 minutes elsewhere to take three to five meetings.
6. Never leave a party first or eat the last thing.
7. Prepare for 30-minute goodbyes.
Hey all 👋
We have an update on Twitter API Fees and Moa.Party shutdown.
⚠️⚠️⚠️ In all likelihood, we will shutdown the main instance on Feb 9th, when free access to the Twitter API ends ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Please read our status update for full details https://moaparty.com/status/2023/02/05/
@historyofpunkrock Still own that cassette. Got it in Minneapolis. Having been reminded how long ago I should say it never happened.
#Twitter has banned #Movetodon from the API, so it no longer works.
Fedifinder still works, so that's an option at least for a little while.
It being Bandcamp Friday (money to artists on first Fri of the month), I filled out my collection with 9 separately billed purchases and added them to my car SD card.
I bought the Charlie Chesterman (1960-2013) catalog. Those Charlie Chesterman releases used to be hard to find.
Also, releases of varying vintage by The No Ones, Faux Jean, Mark Mallman, Danny Elfman, Southern Culture on the Skids, David Byrne, TMBG kids and Cake.
Special Counsel Jack Smith must be chuckling this morning following this development. It turns out someone in 45’s campaign in Wisconsin made recordings of a meeting held two days after the 2020 presidential election. Whoops! What they caught on tape, and what it means, in today’s piece. https://statuskuo.substack.com/p/lordy-there-are-yet-more-tapes?sd=pf
Interesting stress test. I guess I am about to discover what happens when a post goes somewhat viral on Mastodon I have one happening now, hundreds of likes.
My little 2gb Ubuntu #selfhosted #selfhosting server seems to be responding well, but is a bit ... busy.

This issue is a deeply personal one for me. I hope you take the time to read this and understand what is really going on: They are fear mongers, creating a wedge issue, and profiting off of it. It has to end.

A HS student to their TX school board, which is banning books:
“I’m not going to sit here and talk about the slippery slope that book banning leads to because I learned from a book, that I checked out from my school’s library, that I don’t need to resort to logical fallacy to make a point. I’m simply going to say that no government – and public school is an extension of government – has ever banned books, and banned information from its public, and been remembered in history as the good guys.”
