Time for an #introduction :)

My name is Marta Teperek. I am Director of #4TU.ResearchData and Head of Research Data Services at #TUDelft. I am a researcher by training (life sciences/epigenomics/developmental biology).

I care about #researchintegrity #reproducibleresearch #FAIRdata #openscience and #collaboration instead of #competition.

Joined to connect with Twitter friends. Of course I also want to make new friends too!

Hi, I’m Tanya 👋

I do a lot of data viz things with #rstats. And I like to share code. 📊

This month, I signed myself up for the #30DayMapChallenge - so you can expect a lot of maps in my feed like the one below. 🗺️

Welcome, latest Twitter migrants!
Here's what I've learned after three weeks in the Fediverse:

✷ Follow lots of accounts & hashtags, there is no algo to select content for you!
✷ Use hashtags liberally to connect beyong your immediate bubble
✷ Metatext is a great Mastodon mobile app
✷ Use Content warnings (CW) liberally - think of them as subject lines
✷ Mute/block vigorously (no different to the birdsite)
✷ Be respectful
✷ Enjoy the calm 😌

Mastodon thought of social media differently and it feels much more like a quiet haven compared to what a busy Facebook or Twitter timeline looks like. I enjoy being over here and my feeling is that conversations are more important than writing posts that generate likes 🥰

I hope we’ll all be able to maintain this environment (although some changes may be inevitable (and may be also positive) with so many people coming over and forming the network. I'm curious what the future holds for us 🤗

Thinking about the Twitter > Mastodon migration from a more abstract level, these are fascinating and eventful times (and I'm sure we’ll see scientific articles published studying the effects and how online migration is different from “real life” migration 🤓)

Here's a Mastodon tool to search for users by name across instances. It also returns Twitter accounts in the results.

Just imported a list of people I follow on Twitter using pruvisto.org/debirdify

What's even more amazing is that Debirdify allows you to export accounts you've blocked - and #mastodon allows you to import a #blocklist as well. An extremely powerful tool.

thanks for building @pruvisto, and thanks for sharing @zararah! #twittermigration

Hello everyone! This is the new official account of the Debirdify app. It helps you finds out which of the people you follow on Twitter are on Mastodon/in the Fediverse already and follow all of them easily.

Try it: pruvisto.org/debirdify

We recommend to keep checking it every few days to see if there are new people.
