And 20 years of bad government policy on renewables — and climate change more broadly — is coming back to bite Australia.
Once again, Australia has the technology, skills, and raw materials to be a world leader in an emerging technology. And once again, we'll end up being a quarry that sells the rocks for cents on the dollar while the value adding is done elsewhere.
"Australia currently supplies 60 per cent of the world's lithium and boasts bountiful deposits of almost every raw material needed to create lithium-ion batteries.
"But the majority of those materials are destined for International markets."

I can’t get over the bold “and” - I think it’s to weed out those unable to deal with truth dichotomy.
Thank you for another year of Honest Government Ads! Here's some bloopers and behind the scenes goodies I collected for you over the course of the year. Catch you in 2023 💛
Thanks very much gas industry for going off in a huff and putting gas expansion plans on the backburner. Best Xmas gift ever to an overheating planet. Hurrah.

Residential solar sends prices negative ..South Australia
Rando’s random thoughts
SA will be effectively exporting power to the east coast for an hour or so each sunlit day (ie. the grid is mitigating somewhat).
Consumer’s off-peak period @ penny rates will (has already) shifted to the middle of the day - this makes domestic solar relatively more expensive and solar+battery relatively cheaper.
Solar farms likewise will find installing storage more economic to make use of their
.@HonTonyAbbott@twitter.com is a gross hypocrite. He says “It’s wrong when woke CEOs start playing politics through their businesses.”, but is stone-cold silent when those same CEOs play politics undermining government tax and environmental policy. #auspol https://www.hcamag.com/au/specialisation/benefits/tony-abbott-hits-out-at-woke-ceos-over-australia-day-controversy/431363?
No doubt they’re aware - it doesn’t match the brief from Elmu. Contract journalism requires such tap-dancing to dissonant music.
(Elmu’d be more than happy to continue doing the same for the same interests).
It is amazing how often the all-guns-blazing, ideological reporting by some journalists manages to undermine their own story, to miss the forest for the trees. The two "big name" journalists who had carriage of the "Twitter Files" are put to shame (in reporting terms) by this more measured piece about shit that happened in the Twitter moderation mines. Worth a read.
