Take your hat off and say that, pal. Barnaby is the biggest pantomime Australian of them all. The guy has been auditioning as ‘Captain Real’ for years. He and his hack second wife need to get off the public stage and get real jobs as actual people.

Michael West opinion piece on the role of NewsCorp in Brexit & its influence on Australian politics

“the corporate media – in the face of rising social & independent media – has become ..ever more ready to propound the lies & misinformation. The billions in funding promised for the NHS has not materialised, the benefits from tax cuts have not materialised, and the Brits now face austerity measures.”

Many have noticed how #TAFE in Australia has been fucked up by consecutive neoliberal BS ideologies that include privatisation. So now we see a Vocational Education & Training sector eviscerated & dodgy private colleges offering point & click BS courses.

I worked in #TAFE for over 25 years in various capacities. I left in 2010 because I was getting embittered by teacher colleagues who couldn't see what was happening & didn't do anything to stop it.

Anyway, here's something I wrote about the whole thing on my blog. Please boost if you find it interesting.

If this year taught us anything, it's that:

1) Workers keep America going, not billionaires.
2) Corporate profits don't trickle down to workers.
3) Poverty is a policy choice.
4) Health care is a human right.
5) Strikes work.

I hope we act on these lessons in the new year.

It’s so weak and amateur that it’s nauseating.

As one would expect: Putin’s New Year’s Eve address did not even use real soldier, but actors (that is - people rounded-up from the Presidential Protection Office).

The blonde woman can also be seen in his Easter address.

He’s as fake as the value of the Ruble.

This is the the reason he does shit like amplify RU mouthpieces claiming that the U.S. will devolve into a Civil War: when there aren't enough content creators generating engaging content, he literally steps in to juice the numbers. It's so fcuking transparent that it's laughable.

Well, it would be laughable if he weren't cheerleading WWIII in the process, but that's who he is: an opportunistic narcissitic asshole who doesn't give a flying fuck what happens to the world so long as he's on top

So, as I said earlier in this thread, let's call a spade a spade: influencers who are generating original content for Twitter are the *only* reason that place is still around. They are literally enabling the hate and vitriol that they *claim* they are fighting against. Those claims are performative bullshit. The data makes it abundantly clear that they're doing abso-fucking-lutely nothing but keeping El** from bankruptcy, and selling out human rights in the process. That's it.

Ukraine installed Solar panels on a hospital as part of its plans to ensure key infrastructure can get power even when its grid is down. These, generators and battery storage systems is what ScoMo should have srnt not Coal. Coal can not be used when power plants are bombed #auspol #auspol22

And 20 years of bad government policy on renewables — and climate change more broadly — is coming back to bite Australia.

Once again, Australia has the technology, skills, and raw materials to be a world leader in an emerging technology. And once again, we'll end up being a quarry that sells the rocks for cents on the dollar while the value adding is done elsewhere.

"Australia currently supplies 60 per cent of the world's lithium and boasts bountiful deposits of almost every raw material needed to create lithium-ion batteries.

"But the majority of those materials are destined for International markets."
