There need to be more good reconstructive recordings of Chaucer that distinguish all the sounds reconstructible for 14th century Middle English, and I guess if you want a thing done right you gotta do it your own self.
So here's me reading the first 78 lines of the prologue to the Canterbury Tales (the opening and the description of the Knight), complete with a somewhat freehanded modern English prose paraphrase.

@Sandywb Thanks! I didn't do science in high school but I was the kid in 3rd grade who was going to read every single book in the town library. I can't teach English because I don't understand why kids can't read or write :)

While it's very obvious that I'm launching a debut book at the end of May, it's less obvious how happy I am to be doing it mostly on @Mastodon.
I swing for a lot of cultural fences with The Dent in the Universe and I play fast and loose with quantum physics.
Imagining the kind of response I'd get from bad faith readers on Twitter makes me shudder. Conversely, the rewarding, supportive response I've gotten from Mastodon users has been amazing.
