#Introduction I am a professor at the U of Florida and director of the Human Neuromechanics Laboratory. Research in the lab focuses on the biomechanics and neural control of human movement, with particular emphasis on merging humans and machines. Robotic exoskeletons, bionic prostheses, and mobile brain imaging with high-density EEG are the areas we work on most. Some of the soon to be published studies in the lab look at electrocortical dynamics during table tennis and using visual stimuli to improve motor training. We also dabble in virtual reality.
Interesting paper looking at the effect of the soleus on whole body metabolism. It suggests all muscles do not have equal effects on body metabolism relative to muscle mass. Would affect success of exercise interventions and robotic exoskeletons. Hamilton MT, Hamilton DG, Zderic TW. A potent physiological method to magnify and sustain soleus oxidative metabolism improves glucose and lipid regulation. iScience. 2022 Aug 5;25(9):104869. doi: 10.1016/j.isci.2022.104869
