"Q: So this is why Musk seemingly “overpaid” for Twitter? He & backers want to use it as tool of info warfare, to kill off dollar & help usher in Putin’s “multipolar world?”
A: Yes, that’s why they “overpaid” for Twitter. Bc end goals have nothing to do w Twitter or its ad model by itself. It’s merely means to an end. Musk likely to join forces w Trump’s Truth Soc & Kanye’s Parler to try to control much of the info space. And they’ve got the threat of Putin’s nukes to force the issue"

Trevor Hancock: We need to get over our obsession with the economy
The economy is — or should be — a tool used to achieve the things that really matter. It should not be the central focus of government, of public policy and public discussion.

timescolonist.com/opinion/trev

@TheSaanichDaily This dominant economic perspective is a European derived colonial world view that has diminished, destroyed and subjugated all other world views. The reality is that humans flourished, in many cases stewarding ecologies to greater abundances, in virtually all ecosystems beginning hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of years ago. That reality has been replaced with a narrative of the wretched savages and of intrinsic poverty to make the majority wage slaves to the wealthy.

Kids maybe do get anxious when they have brain fog they can’t articulate and no sense of smell, 10 others have Dickensian coughs, 3 are puking in the corner, and their substitute teacher dropped dead yesterday after replacing the one who got long Covid and disappeared

New research: another #LongCovid symptom, smell loss, is linked to changes in the brain.

You risk this every time you contract #COVID19.

There was a time when I never mixed metaphors but that ship has sunk.

I guess I have to repeat this so I don't get @ with "Don't be naive, Canada has problems too, you know:" I'm well aware, but still glad we got permanent residence in BC. No place is perfect, but I feel safer there. So far, no insurrection, no daily mass shootings, and, well, the chart below.

I prefer it to the accelerating fascism here, at least for now. And with that👇

If listening to "Very Serious People" ultimately got you a rigged oligarchy, swarming with dangerous armed nazis, under a fascist police state regime on a planet literally about to boil humanity off its surface... why do you think it's a good idea to ask those same people about solutions, and trust them when they tell you no one but them can solve the problem?

I'm not talking about scientists and experts; we're talking about capitalists here.

Why is it so hard to imagine that an entire socio-economic-political system that continuously puts greedbag reactionary capitalists in charge, even unto the point of literally threatening all life on earth with no sign of abatement, might have been designed that way on purpose? By whom? Well let me tell you a funny story about how rich reactionary crackers been running pretty much everything since and because of slavery...

Dawg, they lied to you. I'm right. The boiling sea proves it.

Once again, a reminder for those of you who scream about "e-begging":

None of us want to constantly solicit for funds, and in a society that actually cared enough for people to pay them livable wages if they work or provide enough to meet their needs if they can't work due to disability or age, there would be no need for #MutualAid.

This society, however, sometimes leaves us no other choice when all other avenues are closed off.

You don't have to like it or even donate, but respect it.
