#OpenAI Is Now Everything It Promised Not to Be: Corporate, #ClosedSource, and #ForProfit
OpenAI is today unrecognizable, with multi-billion-dollar deals and corporate partnerships.
OpenAI's #generativeAI is now big business. It wasn't always planned to be this way.
Will it seek to own its shiny #AI future?

executives that routinely fail to properly secure their networks and consumer data should face jail time and meaningful, personal fines
Well, this is a bit disheartening.
I wanted to checkout KDE. Seems a lot of work has gone in lately and it sounds like it's in good shape.
Installed #Pop_os, installed KDE via System 76's instructions.
I assume this is because Pop is built on Ubuntu, but KDE installs snapd and defaults the Discover snapd backend but NOT the flatpak back end. Effectively Ubuntu has hijacked KDE and indirectly Pop (and presumably other distros based on ubuntu).
the "amusing" part is that none of this is new. T-Mobile has faced repeated criticism and (wrist slap) fines for being sloppy on SIM hijacking and rampant location data collection and they were STILL compromised 100 times in a single year.
good job everybody. great job regulators.

Let's see who owns who ....
Jimmy Carter's most important legacy is probably his least well known. Before Carter, 3.6 million people per year were infected by Guinea Worm, a neglected tropical disease. Today, that's down to *13* cases per year, a reduction of 99.99%. And it throws his post-presidency into stark relief from Trump's who is golfing and ranting on social media while trying to get richer. https://brianklaas.substack.com/p/jimmy-carters-hidden-legacy
