Well I never - Rishi Sunak's wife holds shares in childcare firm given Budget boost - BBC News
Just asked @DefraGovUK minister if she’ll reconsider recent U-turn on promise to cancel the 2026 deadline to save lost footpaths. There’s a huge backlog of 4000 applications to save footpaths & this artificial deadline threatens 41,000 miles of paths across England 😠@RamblersGB

Private jets are the climate-wrecking preserve of the mega-rich - flourishing at expense of people & planet. If this Govt run by millionaires & for millionaires won’t ban private jets, it must *at least* levy a super tax on them to fund a greener future.

Mathematician Emmy Noether was born #OTD in 1882. She made groundbreaking advances in abstract algebra, and her eponymous theorems articulated the deep connection between symmetries and conserved quantities in physics.

Nice try, @RishiSunak – nakedly attempting to bury your tax return under Boris Johnson’s Partygate Inquiry – but we’re not going to miss it.
RT @joepike: NEW: Rishi Sunak's tax return will be published at 4pm.
This will be during the middle of Boris Johnson's appearance at Privileges Committee.

Stomach-churning that Boris Johnson is trying to undermine the #PrivilegesCommittee with baseless moaning about the process and a ludicrous, patronising attempt to take the moral high ground over Harriet Harman. Desperate stuff that is obviously not going to work

Thought for the day:
If you ask ChatGPT if it's intelligent or sentient it'll generally assert that it is.
But we know that it isn't—and this is glaringly obvious on further interaction.
We haven't created an AI. We HAVE created a classic philosophical zombie, though:
Alright #bm100 folks, the preliminary Google Sheet of runners and times can be found here. It's of course not official, and compiled to the best of our knowledge. Trees are being felled under the cloak of darkness in #Plymouth town centre this evening.
Gross. I had thought that every county council would have learned not to 'Do a Sheffield' by now?!

As Sir David Attenborough said on Wild Isles ep1... 'Never has there been a more important time to invest in our own wildlife, to try and set an example for the rest of the world, and restore our once wild isles for future generations.'
😠 🤡
I feel for the difficulties the investors in SVB bank are facing, but I don't understand why they can't just rely on their families & local churches to help them thru this rough patch. If the gov't gets involved, then we'll just put ourselves on the slippery slope to Venezuela.
Not to mention the fact that it'll just encourage them to engage in these sorts of self-destructive behaviors again. What ever happened to tough love? It made me the person I am today!
When a government puts forward legislation that will expressly breach a treaty that was written to protect people from the things that happened in 1930s Germany, it is entirely reasonable to compare that to 1930s Germany.
When they go on to then try and silence that criticism, again, it is right to remember criticism was silenced in 1930s Germany.
Not airing an important episode of Attenborough's new nature programme, Wild Isles, because telling the truth about natural destruction in the UK might upset the govt.
Sacking Gary Lineker for his accurate analysis of the govt's illegal immigration bill.
Fiona Bruce minimising Stanley Johnson's domestic violence on Question Time last night.
What the hell is happening to the BBC?
As a fan of the BBC, what's going on is an absolute disgrace ☹️
A government without morality on all fronts https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/mar/12/wife-of-sir-stanley-couldnt-tolerate-his-abuse-neither-should-rest-of-us?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
A medical degree gave me working enjoyment , the Open University allowed me to develop maths and physics because we know the rest is (essential) stamp collecting .A lifelong learner , it’s fun .We need less men in suits in charge.
