With US aid being blocked by Republicans, and EU aid being blocked by Hungary, the Nordic countries of Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland has released a new joint statement, saying:

“We condemn Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine in the strongest
possible terms. […]
The Nordic countries will stand with #Ukraine for as long as it takes.”

Remarkably, the document also supports Zelenskyys peace formula, which underlines Crimea is Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán says, tonight he has vetoed all EU aid to #Ukraine at the EU leaders summit in Brussels.

Rest assured, this will be resolved, and while Ukraine will eventually get all the aid we have prepared, Europeans will never forget, Hungary tried to keep us from helping our Ukrainian friends.

Shame on this fool.

EU has begun its leader's summit in Brussels today, and Hungary's Victor Orbán is hell-bent on stopping aid to Ukraine.

Meanwhile in Washington, Republicans are holding back aid to Ukraine as well.

The EU summit ends friday afternoon, the same day the US house of representatives leaves for the Christmas holidays.

The Ukrainians have fought for 21 months. Thousands have died.

The coming 36 hours will be decisive for the future of democracy.

Great news for Europe. Today the Polish parliament formally elected the pro-EU politician Donald Tusk as prime minister.

Gone are now the days of the PiS Government, who were anti-abortion, anti-LGBT, Christian nationalists who sent Poland on a collision course with the EU by attacking their own justice system and human rights.

I seriously hope, Mr. Tusk is the right man to end the transport blockade of Ukraine and get the flow of aid back on track.

Today I came across this video showing a recent shelling of the town of Pervomaiske southwest of Avdiivka.

This is what happens to Ukrainian homes, while Republicans in Washington hold back the aid and wish each other Merry Christmas.

EU, NATO have demonstrated serious weaknesses, e.g. the lack of full force reaction against Russia and the fact that support and loyalty expires quickly for some members.
